I heard this from a MODERNIST once, which really confused me. It's obviously over exaggeration of Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani (ra), and usually unlearned people tend to believe it. But I will add an AllahhuAlim in case the story is something else and beyond my understanding.

How could anyone in their right mind believe this??? SubhanAllah.

I've heard even worse from some people. One Khateeb claimed that Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilli al-Hanbali, actually told Allah `azza wa jall to release all the souls He (subhanahu) had taken on a certain day. When Allah ta`ala refused Shaykh AbdulQadir snatched the bag containing the souls and released them!!!! Wal-`iyadhubillah. What kind of Kufri nonsense is this? Can any `aalim elucidate upon such statements and shed light on how we are suppose to deal with them?

    BarakAllahu feekum.

There is no Proof for such Nonsense, Silly things like this go Beyond the boundary of Quraan and Hadith and should not be accepted, and rejected down right, Neither Has Allah (jalla maj nahu) nor his Nabi (alayhimusalatu wat tasleem) sanction the occurence of such events

This is what happens when we sway in our effort to attain the Ishq of Allah

hahaha citing any proof u wish. they just speak about it with great passion. if you raise an eyebrow they say u hate awalia and not a true muslim. the claim is abdul qadir jilani gave the prophet (saw) a boost and thus was born with the footprint of rasoolullah (ra) on his neck and that ALL the true wali allah's have the footprint on there neck. as for abdul qadir jilani (ra) not being alive at the time they say the souls where created in advance and thus his soul travelled with the prophet (saw)

    1. The above mentioned "fairytale" in mentioned in many books of Beralwis, and one such book is Tafreeh al-Khawatir,p 40-41 published by Sunni Dar al-Ishaat Alwia Rizwia, Dagkoot Road, Faisalabad.

The story goes one of the servant of Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jailani [r.h] passed away. His wife came to the Shaykh and requested the Shaykh that his husband be returned to life. Shaykh did muraqba and found out that Malik al-Maut [Hadhrat Izrail [a.h]] is going up to the heaven with all the souls that He had taken that day. Shaykh told Malik al-Maut, "Stop, and give me back the soul of my servant." On this Malik al-Maut replied, "I take the souls on the order of Allah and there is no way I can return you the soul of this individual and this led to an argument between the two. There was a basket in the hand of Malik al-Maut with the souls of all those who had passed away that day. Shaykh Jailani snatched the basket from the hand of Malik al-Maut, and all the souls came out of the basket and returned to their respective bodies. Malik al-Maut complained to Allah about what Shaykh had done to him. Allah replied, "Shaykh Abdul Qadir is my mahboob [beloved], why didn't you return the soul of his servant. If you would have returned just that one soul, you wouldn't have to see all the souls being snatched away and you wouldn't be sorry now.

The reason they relate these stories is to put in the hearts of laymen that Shaykh is so powerful, he does tasarruf in the whole Universe, and all the needs are fulfilled from his court. Call him in the times of any difficulty, and he will be there to assist you.

    2. As far as the "fairytale" that Shaykh Abdul Qadir was present with Prophet [s.a.w] on the night of Miraj, then this story also appears in many books of Beralwis, along with as Tafreeh al-Khawatir, p 20. Ahmed Raza Khan Beralwi has also discussed this issue in Fataawa Karaamat-e-Ghausiyah, which is available online on Beralwi websites.

The story goes that on the journey of Miraj, Prophet [s.a.w] reached near Arsh of Allah but found it to be too high and there was a need of stairs that it could be climbed. From this point, even Hadhrat Jibrail [r.a] and Baraq could go no furhter. So at this point, Allah sent the soul of Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jailani [r.h] and he bent down to Prophet [s.a.w] could use Shaykh's shoulders as stairs. Prophet [s.a.w] informed about me, and it was told that He is your son, and his name will be Abdul Qadir. If you were not Khatim al-Nabiyeen [seal of the Prophets], he would be a Prophet after you. On this, Prophet [s.a.w] made shukar of Allah and give him the glad tiding that you will be my vizier in the World. Then Shaykh stood up until Prophet [s.a.w] reached the Arsh. And later on, the marks of the footsteps of Prophet [s.a.w] were visible on the shoulders of Shaykh Jailani.

To prove the great status of Shaykh, they went as far as to disrespect Prophet [s.a.w] and made him dependent of Shaykh to climb up the Arsh.

Also to say that Shaykh was vizier of Prophet [s.a.w] is another fabrication. In is mentioned in Tirmidhi that there are two vizier of Propher in the Heavens, Hadhrat Jibrail [a.h] and Hadhrat Mikaeel [a.h], while who vizier on Ardh, Hadhrat Abu Bakar [r.a] and Hadhrat Umar [r.a].

If there was any Nabi after Prophet [s.a.w]. it would have been Hadhrat Umar and not Shaykh Jailani.

So where even Hadhrat Jibrail had no acces, Shaykh Abdul Qadir went up there. While, according to Ahle Sunnah wal Jamat, the status of Hadhrat Jibrail is superior than all of the Sahaba, let alone Shaykh Jailani.

One should keep the love for Awliya in the boundaries of Sharia. You will hear many Beralwis refer to them as "Gaus Paak kay Kuttay", or Dogs of Shaykh Jailani. One Beralwi on Ya Nabi forum remarked:

The dogs of Gaus Paak is enough to beat the hell out of Najdi! ..

Ahmed Raza Khan mentioned that Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jailani had the powers of "kun fa ya koon."

Also, many exremist "love" awliya not because of Allah, but because of their fear. It in put in their hearts that so and so Shaykh has all kind of powers, hence they love them out of the fear and consequences.

    Assalamu Alaikum,

There are many other stories people made regarding Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani. Most of these stories are found in third world countries where many people are deparived of proper education and they end up beliving fairytales of this kinds.

Some scholars in my motherland (Bangladesh) are standing up against these false claims and working very hard to remove the misconceptions among laymen. May Allah reward these scholars. I still think more work is needed from our respected scholars about these false stories people come up with to save the laymen from the fire of hell.
