Default changing baby's nappy/baby vomit invalidate wudu?

    Assalamu alaikum,

Does changing my baby's nappy invalidate my wudu? I've been making wudu again as a precaution, but on sunnipath it says it does not invalidate wudu. I'm confused because surely if my baby passes stool and it touches my hand as i'm cleaning him that would be classed as an impurity wouldn't it?

Also baby boys have a bad habit of weeing all over themselves and their mother as soon as their nappy is removed, wouldn't that break my wudu?

Also baby vomit in a small amount would that break my wudu. I ask coz i'm a new mother and i don't know the answer i've been re doing my wudu as a precaution coz i'm so uneducated in this area. I'd appreciate the advice.

As far as I am aware, touching baby wee/poo does not break your wudhu (I think in Sha'fi madhab touching with palm of hand does).

As for baby vomit if it is more than a mouthful (baby's mouth not yours ) then you must change the clothes before praying, although I remember that if you have to you can still pray in the same clothes but it is preferred to change them?

So as far as I am aware, neither the baby's wee/poo or vomit breaks wudhu, but requires cleaning the area/ changing the clothes. Perhaps someone can pull up some references...

^^ Oh the wee/poo thing I said above, is in relation to when the baby is only drinking milk. I don't know about when they are on solids?

in general it is only what comes OUT of a person not what comes ON a person that determines if the wudhu is broken. therefore the urine or stool that comes on you from your baby will not break your wudhu. if you obtain "heavenly ornaments" written by maulana ashraf ali thanvi or any other good book on hanafi fiqh you will learn about what breaks wudhu. according to the hanafi mathhab, the urine of boys, girls, men, women, muslim or nonmuslim whether they are eating solid food or being breastfed are all considered najis. the other three mathhabs say the urine of a boy that is not eating solid food is pure and therefore not najis.
so for us hanafis we treat all urine and stool the same way and it must be washed off from the clothes before we can pray.
the question about vomit is answered in heavenly ornaments on page 64 of the zam zam publishers edition, and yes if the baby vomits more than a mouthful it is considered najis and must be washed before praying.
