    True but I tend to go for the hanafi ruling on picture making as detailed in darul iftaa's fatwa.

    It says you shouldn't leave a statue standing,is this also the case in images on paper and screen,for example on street or in a store.
    we shouldn't take hadiths in isolation.

    What does that mean.

    Oh,and by the way,most scholars permit images because they're not tangible,however,where in the quraan or the hadeeths does it say that when images on screen are not tangible,they become permitted.

    I meant as non-scholars we shouldnt just look at one hadith and say 'heres the fatwa' etc. we arent qualified to interpret hadith, we should leave that to the fuqaha.
    where in the quraan or the hadeeths does it say that when images on screen are not tangible,they become permitted.
    let me put it to you this way: is looking in the mirror haram?

    Of course not,but the mirror is just a reflection,a mirror is not a real image,not because it is not tangible,but because it is just a reflection of the thing wich is being reflected.

    Yes, but the Hanafis also differ amongst themselves on the ruling. The position of my Sheikhs is that photos are allowed, and i believe that this is the position of the great Hanafi and reviver of Islam, Imam Zahid al-Kawthari(RA).

    Bro if you won't believe the ulama then I don't see why you would believe me.
    Again, I refer you to the fatwa by darul iftaa. There is a difference of opinion in this issue. Both opinions are correct. Laymen should not ask for 'proofs' because we simply do not have the knowledge to comprehend: and deriving rulings is more complex than just saying this hadith says this or that so thats what we do.

    While I accept that as a maliki picture making is permitted for me, I still tend to avoid making physical images and this is not wrong. So while I might take photos of birds on a digital camera, I refrain from printing them out although I accept there is no blame on me if I do.
