    Default Mawlid

Under this pretext could the mawlid also not be allowed in the west and uni isocs and msa's????

There are some situations where Bid'ah(innovation) becomes the means of safeguarding the deen.. Here this bid'ah becomes a great treasure until such people have complete self purification performed
For example, ordinarily the mawlid is a prohibited bid'ah, But in colleges it is permissible. In fact not only is it permissible it is Waajib(obligatory)
Because through this means the remembrance of the blessed messenger(saw), his miracles and fadail(virtues) are heard. This is good. His (sallallaho alayhi wasallam)'s greatness and love is made firm into their hearts.

But wouldn't the same rule apply for most people today?
    Ya Nabi Salamu 'alayka,
    Ya Habib Salamu 'alayka,
    Ya Rasul Salamu 'alayka,
    Salawatula 'alayka

Imam al-Zarqani said in his book Manahil al-Irfan: 'Our Scholars agreed that if a word carries 99 aspects of disbelief and one aspect of faith, it must be interpreted according to the best of meanings, which is faith'.

One question. What distinguishes a naat mehfil from a mawlid? When does a naat mehfil stop being a naat mehfil and become a mawlid?

A Naat Mehfil is just the one in which the seerah or qasaid of Rasoolullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam are told in the form of couplets in a melodious vocal tone. When they are told in the form of textual words, they are seerah, and when the part of Rasoolullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam's seerah describing the birth of His is told, it's called Mawlid, and it is an act of great virtue.

However, what Hz. Thanvi (Rahimahullah) said, was about the custom of celeberating a special day(which is bid'ah), he says that even that, when done in colleges(or other westernized institutions), it is of great reward, why? because the people in colleges, universities etc are already forgetting their true Mentor and their Ideal, so every once in a while, if by chance they do get to learn a little about His life, then it's better than nothing...

for the answer. Ok, to put it simply then

Naat Mehfil = Celebration of Seerah of Nabi kareem
Mawlid = Celebration of birthday of Nabi kareem (which is a specific day)

Therefore the whole dispute is whether it is right/wrong to celebrate a specific day which Nabi kareem never did? correct?

Actually, a Mawlid is any talk on the Seerah of the Prophet(SAW) Whether its on the Beloved's(SAW) birth or his life. In fact, it can be categorised as any gathering in which the Prophet is remembered but without an reprehensible bidah like mixed gathering between genders.

well yes akhi bambino, that's the dispute, otherwise, talking about the birth of Rasoolullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam is a great as talking about the rest of his seerah.

So is the dispute over the definition only then?
