Help on Maliki madhab.

Salaamu aleikum.
Is there any work on the Usul and the history of the Maliki madhab? SHaykh Farouq's thesis is way too long to read. Does anyone know of a shorter exposition of the madhab? Thanks in advance.

Hmm.. I'd recommend Abu Zahra's book on the 4 madhhabs or Yasin Dutton's 'Origins of Islamic Law'.
