I amreally sorry for not being available to respond. I just checked the email by coincidence and will send a reply. However I would prefer answering question about Madrassah here, as that will also help the next brother with information.

Lenasia, and South Africa in general has nice facilities and the climate is nice. ALso it is quite a 'developed' country.

Hmm... I don't really know too much about that. I know that there are some people on this board from South Africa, some from Lenasia even, so if they can chip in here and help us!

Let me guess though... since I think that most of the Muslims there in Lenasia are from the Indian Subcontinent ethnically, I would guess that the food is normal Indian food. But, bear in mind that there are students there from many different countries, Indonesia, Europe, other Parts of Africa etc. I guess that the food is catered specifically for the students to be suitable for them. Also, I would be sure that there are shops around, or even in the Madressa itself where you can get snacks/junk food and normal stuff to eat.

As for the toilets, I am sure that they will have Indian toilets (squat toilets, which are actually better for your health) as well as Western style toilets as we are used to in the UK/USA etc. So toilets and shower facilites should definately not be a problem. This is a well established Madressa, run by experienced people, inshAllah.

As for communication/internet, I don't know. The madressa itelf is very close to Lenasia, a few minutes walk (if you look at the map, see all those houses to the south of the Madressa) and I wouldn't be surprised if they have an internet cafe or two there for people to use. But you would have to ask someone who has been there to know for sure.

It would be good if any lurking Africans reading this can reply to this thread, or actually to the Madressa Mueenul Islam thread, and give us some details, so we can make that thread a good resource for people who wish to study there to find out information from.

My other question is i see darul zakariyya in the flash link you sent me... where exactly is madresa muenul Islam on that page? is it the building with the blue roof?
