Default tip for those who think too much..

Salaam, this is just something that I felt was very beneficial for me, and may or may not work for others but does for me...If you have a problem, and constantly think about it, and espescially if it's the kind of problem where for some reason, you can't think of a solution just yet, write the problem down. Then you can also, write, down in a systematic format, what you can do and when step by step to sove the problem. You can give yourself dates, as to when you want to accomplish what. Until, the date comes, don't allow yourself to dwell on the problem, tell yourself, you've already set a date to think about it, so it will be taken care of insh'Allah. Just the process of writing down the problem, and why it bothers you helps you to forget about it, because you've written down what's bothering you, and you've written the end-points(meaning what can and can't be done). It also helps you pinpoint what exactly is bothering you, and why it's bothering you, rather than you feeling a certain way, and not exactly sure why. This way, instead of letting those thoughts wander around in your mind, you know you've already written a well-formulated summary of your thoughts, therefore, there's no point in thinking about it again. By the way, this tip was meant for all types of problems, whether it be a school problem, or a personal problem, etc.

    Salaam

Sometimes, when I need to tackle a problem, or am working on a mystery as a detective (used to happen at madrasah every once in a while ), I take a sheet of paper and just jot everything down; all the possible scenarios I can think of, possible solutions, reasons, etc. I find it helps in sorting through everything when it's in front of me on a sheet of paper, as opposed to being scattered all over my brain.

Also, back in the days in madrasah, when none of the fiqh and Arabic grammar rules used to stick around in my head, I found that simply writing them out (even if I was copying from the book) helped a lot in comprehending and retaining the material. Just reading it (especially from a classical text where everything is all mumbled jumbled into endless streams of sentences without any paragraphs or bullets) wouldn't do the trick, so I'd write it down in point form and make a sort of tree (for sub-categories, etc.), and that helped a lot too, especially since it enabled me to use photographic memory.

I was suckered into purchasing Kevin Trudeau's "Mega Memory" set after I saw it on a TV shopping channel (I know, the shame) about 6 years ago. To be honest, I was never motivated enough to get through it all... though I think I can just about still remember some of the lists he made me memorise in the early lessons...

Nowadays, I just stick to mnemonics.

    As sallamu alaikum

I got those sets from Kevin Trudeau from the shopping channel as well!!!!!! I also purchased the advanced mega memory, speed reading and mega math sets as well (but I haven't been through those two yet). Ironically, I've forgotten most of the stuff he went through!!! I think that I should go through it again.

    Wa alaikum as sallam

Assalama alaikum my brothers and sisters

When you are jotting down things on a piece of paper, to clear up your insignificant mind, what you are basically doing is extending your mind to a type of static computer, that is only an image of yourself and your reckoning.
