Akhuwi 'Abdul Lateef, if you look at the website for Dar al 'Uloom in Buffaloe New York, compared to Darul 'Uloom Deoband you will notice some slight differences in the books they teach and the order they teach them in, and in Illionois there are some different books taught then the other too.
I don't think they seem to teach mantiq in Buffaloe, but in Deoband they teach it early on, and but they do teach Tafsir al Jalalayn in both Buffaloe and Deoband, whereas they teach Mukhtasar Tafsir ibn Kathir in Illinois (for example).
If someone can elaborate on this please do.

Ya 'Abdul Latif,
I didn't understand something on the IIE site.
Do they require a years tuition to be paid all at once up front or can one pay by the month if he needs to?

I doubt they except someone to pay the entire upfront. But I think you get a discount if you pay your yearly tution early. seem to be a lot to pay upfront. Inshaa Allah I'll clarify when I go to visit

In buffalo darul uloom theres is a lot of tarbiyat. a lot of the students are mureeds of hadrat ismail(khalifa of hadrat maulana zakariyya kandelwi rahimullah)
Assalamu Alaikum,
I know a scholar personally who teaches at Elgin. Insha Allah if you talk to him, I'm sure he will answer all of your questions including the comparisons and differences between the two courses.
The scholar's name is Shaykh Bilal Ali. He recently graduated. He was in his second year of University and then he left it and went onto study the Darse Nizami in Pakistan. Masha Allah, he is a really amazing scholar. Both of his parents are Doctors but he chose a different path. He was one of the main organizers of the recent retreat they had in Chicago. www.darulhikmah.com He told me that Alhamdulillah over 200 youngsters attended the retreat.
Ok...let me pass onto you his email address and you can take it from there:

Shaykh Bilal was at my place a few weeks ago.
Considering your age, I would say that it would be better for you to go and study in Elgin because in the Buffalo Madressah, you'll have 13 year old kids studying with you and the pace will be extremely slow. Also, for a person of your age, a lot of the Darse Nizami will be redundant if you do the full 6 year course. If you were in your early teens, my advice would have been different and I would have advised you to go to Buffalo.
Salam,

I called the madrasah in Elgin once, (this happened about a year and a half ago, but the information is probably still the same) and one of the hifdh teachers told me that the alim course in conducted in English for the first year and a half and the remainder of the course is done in arabic. This means that urdu is not taught, although the teachers still recommend students to learn urdu outside of class. I think this aspect is good especially for people that don't come from families that speak urdu, and it seems like it can prepare students for private studies with Arab Shuyukh or studying in arabic madaris like Mahad al-Fath Islami in Syria.
Salam Alaikum,
Which institute do you think has a better 'alim program: Darul Uloom Madania in Buffalo, or Darul Uloom Elgin (aka Institute of Islamic Education)? and why?
The reason I'm asking is because I was thinking of enrolling in one of them some time in the future.
Darul Uloom Madania could easily be the best institution in whole North America...
but since I don't even know the second one I guess I'm the wrong one to ask.
