    Default ANSWERED: Salat-ul-Tasbeeh

    Assalamu-Alaikum

    Salaat-ul-Tasbeeh

This is the prayer for forgiveness, a blessing from Allah as if performed sincerely, it can potentially eradicate our past sins. A description of how the prayer should be performed is given below, taken from a hadith (copied from the book titled The Three Abandoned Prayers, by Shaykh ‘Adnaan Aali ‘Uroor)

Ibn ‘Abbaas (RA) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him-pbuh) said:
“O Abbaas, O Uncle. Should I not grant you? Should I not bestow upon you? Should I not award you? Ten things if you were to do them. Allaah would forgive you of your sins, its first and its last, its old and its new, whether it is done intentionally or mistakenly, its small or large, hidden or open.

    The ten things:
That you pray the four rakahs, reading Surah Al-Fatiha and another surah and when you have finished reading in the first rakah then you say while standing,

Subhanallaahi walhamdulillahi walaa ‘ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar

‘how perfect is Allaah and All Praise belongs to Allaah and there is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah and allaah is the Greatest’

    fifteen times

And then bow into ruku and say the same whilst bowing ten times,
And then raise your head from bowing and say it ten times
And then go down into prostration and say it while in prostration ten times
And then raise your head from prostration and say it ten times
And then you go down into prostration and say it ten times
And then raise your head from prostration and say it ten times.

So that is 75 times in every rakah and you do that in each of the four rakahs. So if your sins were equal to the froth on the sea or sand of ‘Aalij (a sandy place), Allaah will forgice it for you.

If you are able to pray it every day then do so.
And if you are not able to do so, then pray once every Jumu’ah.
And if you are not able to do so, then once very month.
And if you are not able to do so, then once a year.
And if you are not able to do so, then once in your lifetime.

May Allaah grant us all a place in the Jannaah.

    Ameen

ok guys now sum questions to ask u smaarty pants people. i got this frm a book..n posted it on a diff site b4. but im a bit confused bout how to perform the prayer.

ok first when u go to ruku..do u read 'Subhanallaahi walhamdulillahi walaa ‘ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar ' after subhana-rabbial Azim?

n after that..do u straighten up sayign 'rabbana walakal hamd', n again 'Subhanallaahi walhamdulillahi walaa ‘ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar '. or it is the other way round?

    n when u repeat it durin prostration, do u still read 'subhana-rabbial a'la'? if so..then u repeat it after u said 'subhana-rabbial a'la', rite?

n finally when u go bak up after 1st rakat, u say 'allahu Akbar', but b4 standing up u repeat 10x. so u do that sitting..but then when u stand up after uve dun the repititions, do u again say takbir? or strtaight up?

i know it sounds a bit confusing the way ive aske.d.just short on time. any clarifications greatly appreciated.

    jz

    The following may help :

It is recorded in Sunan Abi Dawud and other books of hadith that Rasulullah (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam once said to his uncle Hadrat `Abbas (r.a.) : O Abbas! O my uncle! Shall I not give you a gift? Shall I not show you something by means of which Allah Ta`ala will forgive your sins, the first and the last of them, the past and recent, the unintentional and the intentional, the small and huge, the secret and open?

Rasulullah (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam) then taught him the Salah al-Tasbih. Furthermore he advised him that it be offered daily, if possible. If not then every Friday or once a month or once a year or at least once in one's life time.

Salah al-Tasbih consists of 4 raka`at. It can be performed any time of the day or night except at the makruh times.

The following tasbih is recited seventy-five times in each rak`ah totalling 300 in the 4 raka`at.

Subhaanallaahi walhamdu lillaahi walaa ilaaha illallaahu wallaahu akbar

The method of this salah is as follows:

After beginning the salah by saying Allah-u-Akbar recite the thana ', Sura al-Fatiha and a Sura followed by the above tasbih 15 times.
Then go into Ruku and after reciting the usual tasbih for ruku` recite the above tasbih 10 times.
After standing up from ruku` recite the usual Rabbana Lakal Hamd and thereafter recite the tasbih 10 times.
Then go into Sajda and after reciting the usual tasbih for sajda recite the above tasbih 10 times.
Then sit up from sajda and recite the tasbih 10 times between the two sajdas.
Thereafter go into sajda again and after reciting the usual tasbih for sajda recite the above tasbih 10 times.
Then sit after the 2nd sajda (i.e. before standing up for the second rak`ah) and recite the tasbih 10 times.
This adds up to 75 times in one rak`ah. Do the same for the remaining 4 raka`at.

    Abu Usamah
