Default which is the best print of Sharh at Tahawiyah?...

    As salamu 'alaykum,
Could someone please inform me of which is the most accurate print of Sharh at Tahawiyah of ibn Abil 'Izz and any other reliable sources for learning athari 'aqidah including any other shuruh of at Tahawi's creed that are noteworthy, along with where I could purchase them.

I read in Shaykh Shu'ayb al Arna'ut's tahqiq of Sharh at Tahawiyyah that he said Shaykh al Albani's version (the manuscript it was taken from I'm assuming) had a lot of mistakes but is Shaykh Shu'aybs version reliable enough to learn athari 'aqidah from?

Also, how is the version of Ahmad Shakir.

Please list any other good shuruh on al 'Aqeedah at Tahawiyah and any other sources to learn athari 'aqidah from.

    Allah yajzeekum al khair.

Here's a good rule of thumb...

Open the book and skip to the part where Imam at-Tahawi says "The six directions do not contain Him." If the explanation still tries to make a case that Allah in the direction of "up," then DO NOT read that explanation.

they do not accept Imam Ibn Abi Al-Izz al-Hanafi's sharh, because it differs with their aqeedah and it is like the aqeedah of Shaikh al-Islam Ibn Taimiyyah rahimahu Allah.

so don't expect any non Salafi member here to recommand his sharh for you.

    Shukran ukhti.

The thing that I'm confused about is that Shaykh Shu'ayb is a traditional sunni, so why did he do tahqeeq on this book if traditional sunni's are against the book?

The reason I started the thread was largely to figure that out.

I'm wondering if he said anything in his tahqiq that showed his disagreement with Shaykh ibn Abil 'Izz or if Shaykh Shu'ayb used to be salafi when he did this tahqiq.

Could someone please explain this to me?

Shaykh Shu'ayb did the takhrij of the Ahadith only. The second edition was co-authored by Abdullah Turki ("Salafi") - so it is likely that the latter added his own "Salafi" understandings alongside Sh. Shu'ayb's takhrij/ta'liq. Now how can one distinguish without comparing and contrasting who said what - Unless one has the 1st edition also?!

there are pleanty of hanbali athari texts you would be in disagreement with that shaykh shu'ayb did tahqeeq with. Look at aqawil al-thiqat....who is shaykul Islam in the tahqeeq of this book? Ibn taymiyyah(rh)
