Default Alert: Do you take Tylenol for headaches? Some may contain Pork / Beef.

    ,

Some Tylenol products contain Magnesium stearate (which is either derived from beef or vegetarian sources). The Magnesium stearate in Tylenol is derived from beef.

A list of all Tylenol products can be found here: http://www.tylenol.com/page.jhtml?id...ducts/main.inc

If the Tylenol product contains Magnesium stearate, Gelatin, and Polysorbate 80 then do not consume that product.

I received this email on Apr 2, 2007 1:15 PM directly from Tylenol.

    Dear [edit],

    Thanks for visiting our website.

Some of our products do contain ingredients derived from animal byproducts such as gelatin or magnesium stearate.

Magnesium stearate is derived from beef and is manufactured using a chemical process. Gelatin is derived from 30% porkskin and 70% bone. Polysorbate 80 contains ingredients that may be derived from beef stock, pork, corn and petroleum.

Each of our products has a complete ingredient listing on the package.

We appreciate your interest in our products.

I am not too surprised about the Gelatin (since the gel caps obviously contain Gelatin) -- I just didn't know about Magnesium stearate in the regular caplets.

    Anything similar with advil?
Al-Layth said: "If I saw a person of desires (i.e. innovations) walking upon the water I would not accept from him." So Imam as-Shafii then said: "He (al-Layth) has fallen short. If I saw him walking in the air I would not accept from him."

This is why I hate taking Tylenol because of stupid piggie ingredients in them as well as the side effects.

Wa'alaikum salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatu ya ukhti,

    Since it says,

"..The Magnesium stearate in Tylenol is derived from beef."

    and,

" Magnesium stearate is derived from beef and is manufactured using a chemical process."

Maybe I misunderstood, but what is the problem with "Magnesium stearate" ?

Is it the "chemical process" where the problem lies? Or is it the problem of not knowing if the beef is halal or not?

    Asslamo Allaikum,

I am Sorry but why take Over the Counter Medictions routinely?

If someone is taking them regularly you need to see your Doctor;for minor Haedaches/Aches & Pains there are non-pharmacological treatments that work well.

If you really have to 'take' something for a headache (if not sleep, drink water, get off the PC) then try this:

    http://www.healthmonthly.co.uk/produ...FRMXQgodWgboLw

It contains pure oils and you just apply it to your temples and voila! Headache vanishes! Too good to be true? That's what the pharmaceutical company would like you to think...I mean just imagine if we all started using natural remidies, how would they survive?! Heaven forbid that such a travesty should occur!
‘Good and evil can never be equal. Repel (evil) with that which is better, and see how, then, someone between whom and you was enmity shall become a true friend. Yet none is given such goodness except those who are patient; none is given this but the most fortunate.’

    (al-Fussilat 41: 34-5)
