Default Imam Suhaib Webb and Asharis?

Does anyone know what's going on with the Translators blog? I remember the old blog Imam Suhaib had would talk about certain issues with articles written by the venerable Imam exclusively, and they would have a goal of unification and understanding. However, since I've been reading translators, I've noticed many articles linked that are a bit of the opposite of what the Imam has mentioned either in the past or in his live lectures. Most of these have revolved around Ahl al-Kalam. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Imam Suhaib, but does he also believe that the Ashari and Maturidi are upon a deviated aqeedah? I only ask because his new stance is more seemingly along the lines of the Salafi Dawah, and I was surprised because I always felt he would represent the non-Salafi side of Al-Azher.

And I only ask people who know more about this since I don't have his personal contact. If anyone says anything wrong, negative, or false about the Shaykh, you will have to take it up with Allah.

I do know that some of the posts he posts in his blog say that Ash'aris, Atharis and Maturidis are Ahlus Sunnah.
Btw, the thread "translators Ash'aris" on www.deenport.com is interesting.

Brother -- why don't you contact the respected Imam directly and ask him this? Do you really expect the correct answer about his positions from laymen on Sunniforum? This sort of questioning in the public opens doors to unneccasary fitnah in my opinion.

Sidi Imam Suhaib is not Ash'ari.
And he is truly amazing. And we need more scholars like him who can look beyond prejudice.
    And I love him.

    May Allah preserve him.
    Wassalam.

With all the respect that is due to all the ulema and the awliya irrespective of their respective masalik and manahij, I think it is fair for anyone to know, with proof, who belongs where. We live in a world of confusion, and the more clarity that can be attained, the better. Principles cannot be thrown away away in the name of "unity" when "unity" means blurring the distinction between one set of principles and another, or it means that one group allows its principles to be mocked and ridiculed, or left undefended.

The lines are very clearly drawn and one must know where one stands. One must know where everyone else stands too. After all, we must be careful about the sources of our deen.

And anyone who even comes close to criticizing the principles that we hold dear to, must be respectfully, but aptly, answered, so as not to create any confusion in those who may be on the edge with regards to those principles.

Imam Suhaib (hafidhahullah) affirms that Ash'aris and Maturidis are ahl al sunnah but that he does not follow these schools and instead follows what he says is the "Athari" school. Check Deenport for his take on the matter.

    was Salam.
