tonight, we at our local Mosque were blessed with the company of Shaykh Mufti Muhammad Amin حفظه الله, a Turkish scholar.
Shaykh Mufti Muhammad Amin is nearly a hundred years old, having been born in 1910-11. We were informed that he is the only surviving scholar who had studied in the Darul ‘Uloom / Arabic Madrassa system in Ottoman Turkey. The Shaykh has spent his whole life travelling the world, seeking and propagating knowledge.
During his talk, which lasted one and a half hours, and was given in Arabic (translated into English by a local scholar), he talked mainly about Iman, describing to us the reality of Iman as explained by the Salaf as-Saliheen and the blessed 'Ulama who came after.
During his talk, he stressed the importance of performing salah. He discussed the six articles of faith as mentioned in the Hadith of Jibreel; having faith in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Prophets, Qadr (good & bad), and the resurrection after death.
He discussed the correct belief one should have regarding Allah and his qualities very eloquently. Towards the end of the talk, he talked about the conditions of those who do not have faith, and discussed how their grim death would be, the spectacle of the grave, their resurrection and then their final abode, Jahannam. He talked about the pitiful state of those in Jahannam and their everlasting punishments.
He then talked about the Mu’mineen (believers), their death, the spectacle of the grave, which he described as being روضة من رياض ا لجنة (a garden from the gardens of Jannah.) He then talked about the bounties and rewards that the inhabitants of Jannah would receive. During this time, the Shaykh’s eyes were shut and he was completely absorbed as he described the wonders of Paradise
The Shaykh left all in the gathering wonderstruck. Despite being nearly a hundred years old, he seems very strong and healthy and looks only sixty-seventy years old.
Incidentally, the Shaykh was very keen to meet Hadhrat Maulana Yusuf Motala and was supposed to go Darul 'Uloom Bury tomorrow (saturday), however, this is now not possible. He will be visiting Leicester instead. He will be returning to Turkey on Sunday.
I humbly request all brothers and sisters to do du’a for the Shaykh, who at the age of ninety-six / ninety-seven years is still travelling the world propagating the Deen of Allah and his Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم. May Allah lengthen his shadow over us. Ameen.
