he was obviously a very great hero, but some bits of his life are quite disturbing. He is suspected by many of being unnecessarily harsh, the incident re: banu Jazhuma and the way in which the Malik Ibn Nubuwiyyah was killed at the time of the uprising of the false prophets, shortly after the death of the Prophet (pbuh) leaves a lot of question marks, especially in light of the fact that he married the slayn prince's wife, Leila (reputedly the most beautiful woman in Arabia)

However, his campaigns in Syria and his masterful victory over the Byzantines at Yarmouk is a case study as among the most ingenious miilitary campaigns (probably since the height of the Roman Empire)

At his death, Khaled Ibn Waleed was alleged to have mumbled something about how annoyed he was at not dying a martyr's death - just shows the amazing character of the man.
