First Istighfar then Durood Shareef

Arifbillah Hadhrat Aqdas Maulana Shah Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sahab (damat barkatuhum) writes,

“Qutub Alim Hadhrat Maulana Rashid Ahmed Gangohi (Rahmatullah Alayhi) was once asked by someone if first Istighfar or Durood Shareef should be recited. He answered, ‘Do you first wash your dirty clothes or first apply ‘Atr (perfume)?’

Therefore first should the soul be purified from the dirt of sins through seeking forgiveness (Istighfar) and then the perfume of Durood Shareef should be applied.”

One scholar from London, by the name of Shaykh Babikir Ahmed Babikir said so beautiful to a brother; We only need two things in our times, istighfar and salawat.

Both are means to 'cleaning' ourselves and both will 'make us' reach Allah faster and quicker.

We should all really reach out to the 'inheritors' of our beloved, sallallahu alayhi wasallam. When they speak, nothing but 'noor' comes out.. Let us increase both of these things, which are so lacking in our times, even in our homes...
