My friend, it is not possible to tread the path of Love of Allah without a proper Guide (Hadhrat Khwaja Bahaíud-deen Naqshband rahmatullah alayhi)
Both my brother and I stammer, his is worse most of the time however I would also describe mine as severe.
We have both had the problem since we could talk; anyway...
I started speech therapy about 4 or 5 years ago, and I did it for a long time and to be honest it did not help me at all. Last year my brother went to a 3 day course here in the UK called 'Starfish' and they teach you a breathing technique, etc.
It is hard work for him to always use the technique but when he does use it; he doesn't stammer at all. I'll have to wait until next year to go on the course and it has been fully booked for the past 2 years.
Somebody mentioned something about not teasing a child with a stammer. This is extremely important because I remember getting into fights on a regular basis in primary school due to people picking on me about it. It can really smash your confidence.
I just felt it appropriate to add my comments
i would tell them to drink a lot of ZAMZAM water.
Donít know about other courses but the approx 2 week course at City Lit was not more then £150 with is a brilliant price considering the amount you gain.
Different courses will appeal to different stammerers. The main thing, in my view, is why youíre going. If itís to get rid of your stammer then Iím afraid youíll be disappointed but if itís to live with your stammer and kinda make peace with it (after fighting it for X amount of years) then whichever course/therapy you take Iím sure will help even a little bit.
Once you learn what you learn from course/therapy like everything other course practice those techniques regularly - whether its breathing, pre blocks, post blocks, voluntary stammering, cancellation, self-advertising, McGuire, etc Ė keep on practicing.
I know that this is an old thread and all but I just wanted to say to all the brothers who gave advice. I myself have this problem and though it's not so serious, I still have a problem when it comes to giving presentations or talking to a lot of people in general. Just today I gave a presentation and decided that I need it big time.
can you tell me which surah and ayat no. of the quran I can find the ayat in the above picture, it says "Zabaan Ki sojin", and can it used by people who stammer/stutter.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Could you please tell me the name of the book, specifically the title?
