I agree... What is the world coming to?

I believe in technology and keeping up with the times, but I think that this is going one step ahead. It's nice to know that people abroad can be present despite not being present. But doesn't that take out the real feeling of death and it's meaning.

I like the facility where people can check where their loved one's are burried. Although to go extreme into this is most desliked by Shariah. ie. name writing on tombs etc. But it is nice to know where the member of one's family is burried.

I just fear that in future there will be few people that will attend the funerals "physically". What will we have next? Janaza online?

The purpose of the grave-yard is being demolished, the purpose being that one can feel death and its existance and through that create the fear of Allah and remember the hereafter.

    ...Just a thought...

I think it's a good marketing ploy. From a shariah point of view, those that do not see video images as being permissible will say it is forbidden, since people will be part of the funeral and they will be shown.

As for those who do allow them, I'm guessing they'd probably say it is disliked because it:

    1) contributes to people not visiting graveyards (yes, it's supposed to be for people overseas who can't make it, but we know it probably won't be limited to just that). Visiting graveyards is recommended because they remind us of death.

    2) has the potential to become a bid`ah with people thinking it's a religiously beneficial act to watch a janazah (as being part of one is), when it really isn't.

    Allah knows best.
