Try listening to CDs of the Quran. Get familiar with the Surah you are trying to memorize by constantly listening to it.

But, you will have to take some time to sit down and learn. it shoul be easier to memorize because you will be familiar with it.

After you have learnt it listen to the Surah a few more times on the CD to re-inforce it.

I shouldnt be the one giving adive in this particular aspect because believe me my memorization skills are really bad.

But since you are a mom and wife, I couldnt help but help

-Take your time either before or after fajr. After fajr is the best time for memorization.
-If you can, then sit in an open environment, like a viranda balcony.. provided ofcourse that you have full pardah etc ..
-Keep a tasbeeh with you. and which ever surah you wish to memorize, recite is by looking into the mushaf atleast 50 times (originally its supposed to be 100 times..but you will be busy so have to relax it). Keep looking in for those 50 times, this will help your brain take a photograph of the mushaf.
    - After the 50 times, keep the mushaf still there, and start reciting by looking away while forcing your mind to recall.. normally by exprience, once your brain gets it right once.. you will be able to keep track of it inshAllah.
    - Dont take too much of a surah..take only 7-8 Ayah at a time..
-IMP!!! what ever you memorised yesterday..read that in your first rakah of the salaah throughout the day.. and whatever you memorise today read that in the 2nd rakah No matter if its nafl or fardh.. dont leave this out.
-After memorising session of the day.. make sincere duaa that Allah help you retain what has been put into your brain.. and make its way to your qalb.
-Also if you can.. keep reciting that days sabaq while cooking and cleaning.. this is a habit of our pious elder women.. and what a fine habbit it is..
-Finally before sleeping when you sit for your "Ihtisaab/accountability" make another session of duaa.. Force yourself into crying before Allah and make an utmost sincere duaa.. (crying is beloved to Allah)...and when you are at the climax of your dua.. say "May Allah give abuhajira the true ilm of deen and that which You O Allah desire of him..Amin"

Okay Okay ..you can take me out of that dua..but please do remember me in your duaas..

    Wasallam.

    First step.

Best way is to get some audio of the surahs that you wish to memorise.

One way is to download these surahs below, and listen to them at home, at work on your ipod/mp3 player.

There are few recitators of the quran, you can choose from, for learning purposes, use this recitator

    Mahmoud Hosary - learning

Basic Surahs at the ones at the bottom. To make it easier for you, just 'Right Click' the links below and 'Save Target As' to save it to your desktop/documents.

    Al-Fatihah ( The Opening )

    An-Nas ( Mankind )

    Al-Falaq ( The Daybreak )

    Al-Ikhlas ( Sincerity )

If you wish to learn more, go to the bottom of this page :Recitor Mahmoud Hosary - learning and learn the other smaller surahs, slowly.

This above is the first step, to listen so it becomes engraved upon your mind and memory.

    Second step.

To read the arabic to memorise. There are very nice books out there, that just have the basic surahs, or you can further download these to view and repeat in your free time.

*Make sure you use the Right Click and Save target As

    Surah Fatiha

    Surah Al-Nas

    Al Falaq

    Ikhlass

    Third step.

Brothers and sisters behind the MountHira website have done a great job in helping people to learn basic surahs and also surah yasin too.

Have a skim at their website that caters for listening to the surahs and also viewing the arabic.

    http://www.mounthira.com/

Spend your free time, on this website.

    Finally.

    What i suggest is you, make say a certain time that you give to learning these surahs, as one scholar explained it, by the name of Shaykh Yacoubi;

We should have 3 parts to our time. 1-our wife/husband/kids and family. 2-our friends/outside people. 3-for our ownself (which includes such learning).

If we are able to manage time like this, then firstly we will be able to do more, not infringe upon anyone else's right and have a balance in our lifes. ie. "you are always out with friends or i never have my own time, etc"

So make a time when you spend learning these out of your specific time that you have. Requestof your duas.
