Salam. Thanks brothers and sisters for your posts.

    What is the meaning of:

Allahumma Salli ‘Ala Muhammad wa ‘ala Aali Muhammad ?

    Can someone please translate?

    Jazakallah.

    Salaam.

Brother essentially you are asking Allah to bless the prophet (salallahu alaiyhi wasalam) and the family of the prophet salallahu alaiyhi wasallam), see the translation of durood Ibrahimi below.

    1. DUROOD-E-IBRAHIMI
ALLAHUMMA SALLI ALA MUHAMMADIW WA ALA AALI MUHAMMADIN KAMAA SALLAITA ALA IBRAHIMA WA ALA AALI IBRAHIMA INNAKA HAMIDUM MAJID. ALLAHUMMA BAARIK ALA MUHAMMADIW WA ALA AALI MUHAMMADIN KAMAA BAARAKTA ALA IBRAHIMA WA ALA AALI IBRAHIMA INNAKA HAMIDUM MAJID.

"O Allah, let Your Blessings come upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as you have blessed Ibrahim and his family. Truly, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as you have blessed Ibrahim and his family. Truly, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious".

    Default Abundance and Intercession.

    Salaam.

by Abu Abdullah Ibne Ismail (taken from the discourses Of Shaykh Saleem Dhorat).

“A father and son were once travelling on a journey when the father was unexpectedly taken ill. The illness was fatal and the father died. As soon as he passed away, the father’s face turned extremely black.

The son was greatly perturbed by this situation. However the weariness of the journey overtook him and the son fell asleep.

Whilst asleep the son dreamt that he was in a room with his father’s body when a very handsome and noble person walked in. The stranger passed his hands over the deceased man’s face and the son immediately noticed that his father’s face became enlightened.

The stranger then turned to leave the room but just before he could exit the son stopped him and asked him who he was and why he had just passed his hands over his father’s face.

The stranger replied that “I am your Prophet (sallahu alayhi wasallam). Your father’s face became darkened as a result of his sins. My passing my hands over his face was an intercession on my behalf.

And the reason underlying this intercession was that your father would recite durood upon me abundantly.”

Hazrat Anas (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim) said: "He who reads a single Durood upon me, Almighty Allah blesses him ten times, ten of his sins are forgiven, and he is increased ten times in stages (internally). (Mishkaat)

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radi Allahu anhu) also narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim) said: "On the Day of Qiyamah, the closest to me from among the people will be those who have read the most amount of Durood Shareef". (Tirmidhi)

It is now evident that the recitation of Durood Shareef (Salawat) is in perfect obedience to the Divine Command and in complete conformity with the teachings of Holy Prophet (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim) of Islam. There is no scope to choose anything else when we have with us the words of Allah Ta'ala and His Apostle, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim).
The Commands of Allah Ta'ala and the Rasulallah (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim) to recite Salawat-o-Salaam is unconditional i.e. no where in Quran or Hadiths, Allah or His Messenger (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim) mentioned in what position we have to send Salawat and Salam and how loud?. It is entirely up to believers in what position and volume he or she invokes Salawaat-o-Salaam, whether while sitting or laying on bed/floor or standing still or walking, it does not matter. Since we respect our beloved prophet (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim) the most after Allah Ta'ala, it is the demand of this respect that we stand up and send Salat-o-Salam to the Prophet (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim)

One reason for this stated by Maulana Yusuf Ludhianvi was that we as mortals and full of sins are not worth a single atom to bless the Prophet ... every utterance of us mortals is impure and how can be bless the all pure personality of Prophet with our stained mouth....therefore we ask Allah the All Pure to bless Prophet on our behalf...

I read the above in Aap Kay Masail Aur un Ka Hull... cant remember the exact page

    Salaam's.

    Sincerity & Durood

Maseehul-quloob Hazrat Mawlana Maseehullah Khan sahib ra adviced his mureedeen:

“For growth, development and permanence of niyyah (intention that everything being done is solely for Allah SWT’s pleasure via Sunnah method) holdfast to recitation of blessed durood (salawat).

My routine in zikir-e-lisani (remembrance via tongue) is to recite durood all the time.”

One thing I have found very useful is that if a person starts fantasizing about something haram (sexually for example) and he recites durood 10 times it goes away.
