Default Using the name Muhammad as a prefix

I know that keeping the name Muhammad is virtuos but i have observed that in some cultures it's common to use this as a prefix of the name their commonly known by. For example I'm known as Yaseen but on the books I'm down as Mohammed Yaseen.

The other day I was discussing this with some peers and they seem to mock this saying there's no benefit in this and it's a paki tradition. My opinion that merely having this name attached to oneself was in itself a means of barakah.

I don't know whether I make much sense(I normally don't!!) but I'd like others opinion on this.

    Jazakallah

THE BARAKAH OF NAMING A CHILD AFTER THE BELOVED NAME OF RASOOLULLAN (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam)
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said: "Whoever is named after me with the hope of being blessed, he will be blessed and will be in peace till the day of Qiyaamat."

He also said: "To whomever is born a boy and he names him Muhammad solely for the love of me and for the blessings of my name, then both he (the father) and his son will enter Jannah."

yes the baraka part is true...it is said that if you are called mhmd, then you won't enter hell...don't know if it's hadith or not.

the other reason is respect for the name Muhammad, i think.
so the 2nd name is used incase of disrespect, for example "that mhmd is a so-and-so", which obviously doesn't refer to the prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, but the name is used disrespectfully.

but in your case, YASEEN is also the prophet's name, so i'm confused.

the turks use mehmet/ memet instead of muhammad for the same reason.
and arabs keep the root letters HMD but change the vowels to give hammoodi or hammad

    wallahu a'lam.
