Scientific Basis for Saudi moon sighing?

Assalam Mualaykum

For all the people wavering as to whether to follow Saudi or not. Here's a recipe:
For the next 12 months find out after the start of the month....

1:When Indians sight the moon
2:When Pakistanis sight the moon
3:When South Africans sight the moon
4:When the Saudis sight the moon

It is well known in the South Asian community that 1, 2 & 3 ALWAYS sight the moon with regards to Sharii principles.

I have been doing this for many years.....and it is beyond a my simplistic understanding as to how Saudi ALWAYS sight the moon atleast 1 day and more commonly 2 days ahead of other known sightings. Basic Geography and Astronomy will tell you that there should be atleast some months in the year where our Indian and Pakistani brothers should see the moon on the same night as the Saudis. The same being true for our South African cousins.

The other point worthy of note is that Moon sighting predictions ala http://www.moonsighting.com are almost always correct with regards to countries 1, 2 & 3.

It is a relatively straighforward test, which over the course of 12 months will inject serious misgivings with the Saudi sightings. All this WITHOUT a scientist in sight.

The only answer for the above is that "there is a pre-screening of the new moon witch is reserved for Saudis only... followed by a general release a day or two after"

as there is difference in opinion regarding this issue
some believe in wehdat al matali'
and some in ikhtilaf al matali'

shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen rahimahu Allah believed in ikhtilaf al matali'

that each country has its own sighting

then the rest they use calculation

This issue has gone beyond a "Local vs. Global sighting" discussion.

People should realize that this has become a "Local vs. Saudi sighting" issue.

Since when has "Saudi" had a monopoly over global sightings?

My point is that we follow the opinions of the mujtahids, not the opinions of the scientists. If the scientists support or oppose the mujtahids, we must still follow the mujtahids, so why bother even asking the scientists??

Asslamo Allaikum Respected Brothers & Sisters in Islam,

I would like to make the same point which I have "obviously" failed to make in the previous two attempts i.e. this is NOT ABOUT FIQH (3rd clarification.)

May I kindly ask you:

1. To look for evidence which has already been provided about the permissibility of “Scientific evidence” alongside naked eye sighting & post your reservations...PLEASE use the other thread to discuss.

2. To start a new thread if you believe that “Scientific evidence CANNOT be used at all”

3. Or discuss with me in e-mail…

The purpose of this thread is VERY CLEAR. I hope that you see nothing wrong with discussing Physics.

I have started this thread because as other were saying (rightly so) that it was getting very confusing.

There are other threads which are still open and you three are welcome to post and discuss.

I am extremely Sorry to be pain but this is for people who want to discuss moon sighting from a purely scientific perspective.

It is a humble request & I hope that you will oblige.

Now to everybody else, please post the scientific evidence backing the Saudi moon sighting as some have claimed that it is correct!

P.S: I agree 110% Saudia doesn't have a monopoly on global sighting, but again that's a different subject to THIS THREAD!

I am trying VERY HARD like others to discuss the matter dispassionately and to learn during the process. I hope that is acceptable to everyone. There is no point in ranting/raving about something.
