Default Darse Nizami - most effective way of study?

    salaam,

A question to those who are familiar with the syllabus or have completed part or all of it.

Would you say this is the most effective way of gaining knowledge, as opposed to other courses out there? For example, the way arabic is learnt, or the way fiqh is studied when the darse nizami syllabus is followed, do other courses teach certain topics in a more clear, lucid or effective manner?

I ask as I have the opportunity to study the darse nizami syllabus privately but there are also many other arabic/fiqh/hadith courses out there.

    jazakhallah khair for any help/information

    Good question.

I pray that we'll get an equally good answer insha'allah from those of our brothers and sisters who are more knowledgeable than us.

    salaam,

sorry, maybe I should've been a little more clear. I have the opportunity to study the course privately with several scholars i.e. not in a madrassah. Which suits me as I am in my twenties and working too.

Anyway, I am aware of the books that are studied, but if you read my original question I was asking how the study on this course compares to others.

regarding the dars nizami, ive spent 6-7 years studing the syllabus and have also studied in university islam and other subjects. ive have personally found it extremelly benificail for a number a reasons. the main one is that it was founded and set by elders who had great experiance and knowledge in the academic field as well as spirituall up bringing.

i advise any one who is interested in admitting in this course to go ahed with it and belive in our elders.
    jazakkalh

p.s if anyone has any quries plz do ask. love to answer!!!
    salaam, jz for that.

I have heard conflicting things regarding Nizami, some say it is only a means of showing a student HOW to study rather than the acquiring of a considerable amount of knowledge. Would you say that is true?

the main subjects you learn in dars nizaami is fiqh, hadith and quran.
however you do study many other minor subjects like mantiq, nahw, sarf. e.t.c

i believe the minor subjects are studied only to a minimum, which enables the student to understand the main subjects. the minor subjects are just like stepping stones to reach to the main subjects, which is the ultimate aim.

however, the main subjects are studied in depth extensivly. and it is hard to match such a course which goes in such depth.

    jazakallah

    hope it answers your quries.
So how much fiqh and hadith did you cover? Did you go through the whole of nur-ul idha? I hear students study bukhari in final year, is that to say you study/memorise every hadith in bukhari?

There is tons that we could share with you.

I have studied the darse Nizami and thereafter tried studying in a few Arab countries.
I have travelled extensively and met with Ulama all over the world.

When in Syria, we were staying with a group of Syrian Students, who were amazed by the expertise of some of my companions and couldn't believe that after just six years of studying in a non Arab country, one could learn that much in the different fields.

We had an oppurtunity to meet Shaikh Wahbah Zuhaili at his home, so these youngsters came with us, as they had also never met him - privately- before.
Mashallah, the majlis with the Shakh was wonderful, however the Syrian youngsters were dying to ask him one question. At the first oppurtunity they got, they asked:

O Shaikh!, you have been to Pakistan many many times, you have very good ties with the Ulama there. You have also visited India and many other countries. In you opinion, which system of education is better?
The Darse Nizami, or our education system here in Syria?

Shaikh Wahbah replied: "Here in Syria, we just skim through the books, only given students a faint idea of what each field is about, not really going into the field.
In the Darse Nizami, they ensure that they go really deep into every book that it taught and do a good job of it."

He then mentioned how he had been amazed when he saw so many Ulama in Pakistan who are masters in their respective fields. Even in Arabic Adab, there are Ulama who have really mastered the field in spite of them not being Arabs!

    Another incident:
On the way to Syria, we had stopped over in Cairo for the Book Fair and Shaikh Wahbah was present there.
In one of the Q & A sessions there, an Egyptian student who wanted to gain mastery in Islamic Finance asked Shaikh Wahbah, "Who is the most well versed-scholar in Islamic Finace in the World?".
Shaikh replied: "Mufti Taqi Uthmani in Pakistan."

My advice to you is to make the best of the oppurtunity to have to study the Darse Nizami, but make sure you give it your heart and soul.
Ilm will only give you a small part of itself, when you totally hand over yourself to it.

If you have any questions, ask.
I wil try to answer them.
