Default Help me memorize the Quran...

    Assalamualkum

IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE MAIN WAY YOU CAN HELP ME GO ALL THE WAY DOWN INSTEAD OF READING ALL.

I would like to start off by saying that I take Hifz classes and has almost been almost a year and I have only memorized 30,29, and almost done with 28. I have tried every method I could find. My main problem is that my memory is very bad. I also try to wake up for Fajr but sometimes have problems memorizing the quran afterward. In my own opinon I feel like im complaining but sometimes I feel that I just cant memorize!! My memory is short but this is a once in a life time,no!, an enternity chance to become Hifz. I will inshallah go to High School next year and the difficulty will increase. My parents are always frustrating about how slow im going but not only that, I can barely remember what I have read yesterday.

Like I mentioned earlier that I have trouble waking up for memorization. Well I found this beutiful method in the back of my quran!Im going to type however the story goes in the back of my quran...

"It has been reported by Tirmithiy, Haakiem and others that Sayyidian Ibn Abbas Radialutalaanhu reports that he has once in the company of Rasoeloullah Sallalhualhiwasulam when Sayyidina Aliy Radialutalaanhu came in and said:'O Rasoeloullah Sallalhualhiwalsulam! you are dearer to me than my father and mother. I try to memorise the Qur' aan but cannot do so, as it vanishes from my memory'. Rasoloullah Sallahualahiwalsulam said:'Shall I tell you of a method which will benefit you, as well as those to whom it is conveyed by you?
You will be able to retain whatever you learn'. At the request of Sayyidna Aliy Radialutalaanhu Rasoeloullah Sallahualhiwasulam said,'WHen the nigh preceding Friday comes, rise up in its last third portion, if possible, for that time would be excellent. This is teh best part of the night as this is the time when angels descend, and prayers are specially granted at this hour. It was for this particular time that Hadrat Yahqoob Alayhisalam had been waiting for: when he had said to his sons that he would, in the near future, pray for his Al-laah for forgivness."

Well I will summarize the rest because my time is running short. Wake up before Fajr and after reciting Soerah Faatihah in each raka-ah, first Soreah Yassien first rakah,Second Dukhaan, third Soreah Alif Laam Meem Sajdah, and fourth Soreah Moulk. After Attahiyaat prais and aglorify Allah abaduntly, invoke peace and blessings on Rasoeloullah Salalahualahiwasulam and all the Prophets, and seek forgivness for all believers and thos Moesliems who have passed away and then recite the fallowing dua:DUA IS GIVEN IN BOOK.

Well I hope you understand that took me a while to type because im very slow. The problem is that when Thursday comes I miss it because of school and I eat late because my mom cooks late(tried everything those Desi moms are late ) My memory is so short I sometimes wish Allah blessed me with one of those photographic memory things I keep hearing about. All my Arab friends memorize pages while I memorize lines. They memorize a line like in 2 mins and not only that but they can remember it!!! I feel trapped sometimes and my parents have no suggestions of how to increase my memory. So I came here and asked for help. Please all suggestions and tips will be the utmost importance to me!!!

MAIN PROB:I DONT HAVE SUCH A GOOD MEMORY WHICH MAKES ME DO REALLY BAD IN HIFZ CLASS.SO PLEASE, CAN YOU GIVE ME SOME DUAS AND TIPS TO INCREASE MY MEMORY? BECAUSE I SAW THIS ONE THREAD WHICH HAS DUAS FOR MEMORIZATION. WELL ONE BEUTIFUL DUA IS NOT IN ARABIC.SO CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME AN ARABIC SCRIPT FOR THE 7TH DUA ON THE SITE BELOW.

    Salam Brother,

You pointed out that you have a bad memory while your Arab friends can memorize lines and pages very quickly. Which inclines you to think that they might have photographic memory.

Actually you can learn from them, but indirectly! What I mean to say is that Arabic is their language. Now understadibly most of the words have been changed over time but they can still understand what they read which helps them memorize better! The fact is, when you understand and try to memorize you can better memorize it rather than just trying to keep going over and over the same verses!

I myself, am not an Arab! My heritage is from Europe (Bosnia), and what I try to do is memorize the meanings of the verses along with the verses in arabic. Also before memorizing either, I will got to "Tafsir Ibn Kathir" and try to understand what the verses are saying and their meaning, in other words somehow to be able to remember better the verses themselves - I try to make connections with other knowledge.

It is something that is not easy in the beginning but it does work, and helps a lot! Also you might have noticed that you probably have been able to memorize a bit more verses than when you just started! If you have noticed this, then you shouldn't feel depressed.

Finally one more word of advice, don't fall into the trap of mind games. What I mean to say is that you shouldn't accept that you have a bad memory! Medicine has proven that almost 80% of diseases and illnesses are caused by the human brain, when a person thinks they are sick. This is why I try to tell myself that I have a very good memory, and I always try to read more about the brain to learn how it works in order to increase my memory abilities.

I hope my words could be a benefit to you brother, and May Allah (SWT) Bless you with his Blessings and increase your knowledge and memory beyond average capabilities. Insha' Allah!

    salaam

arab students are always goin to memorize faster and easier, so u shouldnt compete with them
btw how long is ur new sabaq everyday and how much time do u take out to memorize it?
but i personally think memorizing 2-3 juz first year. is not really that slow.
inshallah u will increase ur speed

mufti from jamia ashrafia told me to recite 10x rabbi ziddi illma and blow it on ur hands after every salah.

    hope that helps

Rule #1: Devotion..get off of Sunniforum..and the internet for that matter

Do people think that they will be left (at ease) only on their saying, “We believe” and will not be put to any test?

    Thumbs up Jazakallah

JAssalamualkum. I will recite verses from TAHA and other ones. Inshllah that will increase my memory. Also thanks to the brother from Bosnia. My memory is very good...now

Maybe my main problem is that I have to strive harder than others. Yes so Arabs are better at memorizing the Quran than me.. Some people just have to work harder than others at some things. Inshallah Ill make dua for all mu'min who are striving to memorize the Quran.

    Jazakallahukaran,
    Assalamualkum,
