    Default Reading Quran fast

Last month, for the first time I heard a person reading Quran really fast, like 2 juzu' in half an hour etc. (That guy was sitting next to me in Masjid).

    1. Is this allowed since I believe that it's hard to recite with tajweed when reading that fast?

    2. If reading in your head/heart, does that count as "reading"?

    sorry for my ignorant questions.

I once met an old man outside the musjid & asked him how he's doing. He said he was fine, he reads salaah & reads quraan. Then he said to me I love quraan! . I read 10 paras(out of ramadaan) a day & it takes me 10 minutes to read 1 para. At the time the thought came to that he must be reading very fast no tajweed etc... He is not hafiz. I am & it takes me 20 minutes.

At that time I myself only opened my quraan in ramadaan. I always had the desire to read quraan out of ramadaan as well, but couldnt get down to doing it. I always made dua for taufeeq to read.
The words of this old man gave me an idea. I started making dua to Allah to put the love of quraan in me. Alhumdulillah once that happened I also reached a stage where it now takes me 10 min per para. It is not just a question of reading fast or slow but Allah puts barakah in your time.

I can back up what i am saying by examples of Sahaaba, Tabieen, Fuqaha, Awliya etc.. Imaam Shafie RA for example would do 2 khatams a day in ramadaan.
On average people take about 30 min per para. If Imaam Shafie took 30 mins per para he would need a 30 hour day for reading quraan only, & thats besides eating sleeping time etc.

As far as reading with lip movement is concerned it is necessary for salaah, not sure about out of salaah.

May Allah grant us all the true love of quraan. aameen
