Assalamu Alaikum Wa Ramatullahi Wa Barakatoh!

Would anyone have the email of the Madressa Zakariya Park (Darul Uloom Zakariyya) in Johannesburg? to contact about admission, scolarships and these things, since they don't have a website...

    Jazak Allah!

Asalamu Alaikum to all my respected brothers and Sisters.

I want to find out if DUZ has/have any British student studying there. I am interested in attending DUZ and would like to determine the steps they took to become a student at this blessed daar of uloom.
If there are any British sudents, could you please tell me the process you took as of obtaining admission from the Madrasah, medical report, radilogical report, life insurance for the duration of the course and finally CRB in order to get the student permit/visa from the Embassy. Please could you reconfirm if the fax number for the admission of DUZ is still the same as stated at the begining of this thread.

    Dārul ‘Ulūm Zakariyya

    Location:
Dārul ‘Ulūm Zakariyya is located in Zakariyya Park which is approximately 20 min away from Johannesburg. The nearest town is Lenasia, a town highly populated by Muslims. As mentioned in another thread, there is a Girls Madrasa (Mueenul Islam) near by. Many students from Darul Zakariyya have sisters studying at the girls Madrasa. The two schools are a distance way, so it’s not possible for students of one school to see the students of the school.

    .......

    Fees
The fee for this year is R9000 with additional R250 for maintenance. If someone is not capable of paying the fees, the madrasa will make arrangements. They do not reject anyone. The fee covers tuition, boarding, meals, and laundry.

    Daily Schedule
The teachers usually make their adhkār before Fajr in the study hall next to the masjid. Many students join them in dhikr. After fajr, the whole madrasa recites Surah Yasīn upon which the principal makes du’ā. Thereafter all the students are required to sit in the masjid for 30 min to recite the Quran. The students then proceed to the mess hall where breakfast is served.
Classes begin after breakfast. The morning session constitutes of 5 periods of 45 min each. Lunch is served after class and the students are then given time for siesta until Zuhr. In the summer days, usually its about 3 hours and winter days is about an hours. After Zuhr, there have another 3 periods of 45 min each until ‘Asr. After ‘Asr Salāh, the tabligh brothers sit in their halaqa for talīm, in which taskīl is made to go out in weekend jama’āt. Supper is also after ‘Asr. Many students go play on the grounds after meal until Maghrib. All the students have to sit in the study hall from Maghrib till ‘Isha to revise their daily lessons and prepare for the next day's lesson. After ‘Isha they are required to sit for another 1 ½ hours.
Classes are from Sunday Maghrib till Saturday ‘Asr. So you only have a one-day weekend. There is a mall close by where students go on Sundays to buy their necessities.

    Exams
There are three exams throughout the years; 3 months (before ‘Īd al-Adha) , 6 months, and the final exam.

    Food
The food is quite good. For breakfast you have tea. There is porridge or cereal for those that don’t drink tea. With it you have bread with either butter or jam.
Lunch is always rice. Either kardi kichrdi, chicken, mutton, or daal.
Supper is always curry and bread.
There is a canteen that sells hotdogs, sandwiches, cold drinks, pies, and fries (chips). The canteen opens at lunch time, supper time, and late at night after the study time finishes.

    Vacations
There are three vacational breaks throughout the year.
    1 week for Eid al-Adha
2 weeks after the 6months exams
2 month at the end of the year

Inshallah I’ll try to upload some pictures of Darul ‘Ulūm Zakariyya.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
    Assalam Walaikum

Jazak Allah Khair for all your Info.

I’m 23 years old and my wife 24. We both have bachelor’s degree from USA. Now by the mercy of Allah, Allah taala put in our hearts to change our life style and learn about Deen. We both want to go and do aalim/aalima course (I have heard that one of the best place is South Africa). I just started researching on this.

Obviously I will not be able to work there if I’m studying there full time. Thus, we will not have any financial support, but I read in your post that they don’t refuse anybody.

Do you know if they have any benefit for married couple like me? If I study in Dārul ‘Ulūm Zakariyya and my wife in Girls Madrasah Zakariyyah, do we have to live in the marasah or can we get a small place between both the madrasah? Also, how far is both men and women madrasah from each other? How much you think we will need to contribute every month for living there? (not talking about comfort, just necessity is fine too). When do the semester start and as we both know English and urdu(we may not need to take these classes) how many years program will we be enrolling for? How much time do you think husband and wife will be able to spend in a week? (As I read in your post that guys stay in Madrasah from Fajr to late Isha.

Also, do you know how good is Girls Madrasah Zakariyyah?

I’m sorry I have so many questions, but as you may understand that I’m absolutely beginner and these basic question are very important for me. Please reply with these answers and any other information you think is important for us to know. Jazak Allah.

All info yet I have obtained about Darul Ulooms is completely from Sunniforumm. May Allah bless all of you for your effort.

Till now, I have learned that the best place for married couples in Soft Africa in regards to madaris is Azadville and Zakariya. But I still don’t know which one is better for me. Let me know if somebody have any suggestion for me for where to go?

Also, there are few things I need to clarify for myself. Please answer me the following if you can:

1). I read in a thread of zakariya that aalim course is for 6-7 years. First year(Pre-alim) optional.
a). Can you please clarify if it is optional for both Azadville(male) and Zakariya(male)?
b). Is it 6 years minimum(if we don’t take the first year)?
c). How much will not taking first year effect on my later on studies?
    2. How many years course is for Female Madaris in Azadville and zakariya?
    3. How far is walking distance between male and female madaris:
a). Azadville male to azadville female?
b). Zakariya male to zakariya female?
    4. What is the best mean for traveling to buy necessities? (bus, taxi or personal car)? If personal car, how much are cars there? Let’s say Toyota corolla 2000 or Toyota Camry 2000?
    5. How much importance is given to Niqaab for both Azaadville(female) and Zakariya(Female)(just curious)
    6. Can you please provide me with the thread for both Azaadville (female) and Zakariya(female).

    Jazak Allah Khair.

    Assalamu Alaikum W.W

First you will need to contact the Madrasah office on 0027118591081 for thier fax number. They will then ask you to fax a copy of your passport, Molana Shabbir Saheb will fax you a letter of admission which you will need for your visa. You do not need to contact the madrasah after this until your visa is issued.

You can obtain a medical report from your GP, The radiological report is basically a chest xray report, you will have to book a appointment with your hospital for this. For the CRB you have to write to your local police for all the info they hold regarding you, they will take a fee of £10.00 for this. Medical insurance will need to be taken out, many companies provide it eg. bupa.

Finally the embassy will ask for £600 deposit, This will be returned to you after your stay.

After your visa is issued you will need to contact the madrasah for info regarding madrassah start dates etc. The madrassah does not reject anyone, Once you have your student visa you have admission.
