Shaykh Faraz and Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam are pretty much the same age, and contemporaries. Actually, if you see the correspondence between them, both act like the other is more senior than the other and sometimes even as if the other is his teacher. It's a beautiful relationship.
But, in the Arab lands you dont get the Mufti title by graduating from an institute or studying privately - especially the latter, regardless of how long. (Shaykh Faraz has been studying for over 10 years now; the average ifta' course is 8 years with the `alimiyyah) Plus, titles never judge seniority, sidi.
