Default About a Dream of the Prophet

I won't give a name out and keep it anonymous but this person wants help on understanding this dream. It happened after Fajr prayer, the person had gone to sleep.

In the dream, it was as though a battle was to take place, it was meant to be badr (though it sure didn't look like it especially there were buildings), there the Prophet (salalahu alahi wasalam) was dressed in a black robe and a black turban. He seemed darker in complexion than expected as it didn't look like him as you would have ever imagined (that is if you ever imagined seeing his beloved face).

So this person in the dream wanted to bow down in respect to the Prophet (salalahu alahi wasalam), but figured it wasn't a good idea as Islamically we aren't supposed to bow to any man. Oddly though the Prophet (salalahu alahi wasalam) came up to this person, bowed in respect to this person, grabbed the arm and said "You are going to Paradise". It was unbelievable that even the person in the dream didn't believe it was him because of that.

The dream shifted later to something else and the person woke up from a dream, on the wrong side of the bed.

Is this dream a fake? I heard dreams after Fajr usually aren't true? Especially waking up on the wrong side of the bed is odd? What should I tell this person regarding it? I know the Shaytaan cannot shape the Prophet (salalahu alahi wasalam) in a dream but could he have been playing games with it or was it just an imaginary thing? Would appreciate your thoughts, Jazak Allah Khairun.

    Salaam,

I'm no dream interpretor, but this dream may very well have been from shaytaan. Yes the shaytaan cannot take the form of the prophet Peace be upon him, but does this person know what the prophet peace be upon him looks like?

The shaytaan can take the form of any other person and pretend to be the prophet peace be upon him becasue most of us do not know what the prophet peace be upon him looks like.

The prophet peace be upon from the descriptions handed down to us is NOT dark complexioned, and the dreamer stated he peace be upon him seemed darker than expected.

Also the same dream can have differnet meanings for differnet people. Is this person practising, if he is practising is there still a major sin he does regularaly?

In short don't worry too much about dreams, just keep trying your best in the deen.

    was salaam

    Asalaams Br. GeNn.

"The shaytaan can take the form of any other person and pretend to be the prophet peace be upon him becasue most of us do not know what the prophet peace be upon him looks like"

Your analogy is wrong Br Gen..if one sees Prophet in their dreams and gets the yaqeen that, that is the Prophet then it is the Prophet ! its not about the Shaytaan making you think that he is trying to fool you...because shaytaan cannot make you feel that your seeing Prophet in your dream and then show you an animation of him to fool you.

Even the famous story amongst the Tab'ieen was that a man saw the Prophet in his dream and this man claimed that the Prophet said to him to drink Alcohol, but the Scholar around the Muslim lands were dazzled about this dream, but never did it come in their mind [The Scholars] that it was the Sahytaan TRYING to 'imitate' or 'pull one off'...the Scholars eventually came to the ruling that he heard the Prophet wrong and the Prophet was actually forbidding. Wallahu A'lam.

the Dark complexion in the dream can be many things Brother...Sad, Angry, then one has to depend on the environment and the full dream that took place in context, but il suggest to ask Mufti Soofi Saheb and tell him to forward it to Mufti Ebrahim Desai who is a great dream expert.

Jazak Allah Khairun for all your comments, could it be possible anger yet intercession can take place on the Last Day? Or perhaps it can be the complete opposite...I suppose if someone here could help in this situation Insh'Allah.

Yeah that could be the case too, the scope is left open for us laymen, but rather the Scholars will narrow it down and give a hasan jawaab.

I asked a similar question to GenN's to a Moulana and whilst explaining the answer, he also said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) can come in different forms and doesn't have to come to you (or rather you go to him) in his normal blessed form, i.e. as he is described in the Ahadith. The important thing is that you feel and believe that you have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
As for the bowing thing, then the world of dreams is another reality althogether and things that you see in your dreams, although they may be haram in the real world, may not neccessarily have a bad interpretation as far as the dream world is concerned. So it's best not to speculate.

    Sister

undoubtedly i have to say this sounds like a good interpretation, but i dont know if its the right one since you said:

"Please note that this is my own ijtehad in the matter"

the question arises, are you qualified to do Ijthihad?

It is reported from Abu Umamah from the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alayhi WaSallam) that he said:

    اتَّقُوا فِرَاسَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَنْظُرُ بِنُورِ اللَّهِ
