ANSWERED: Interest

Assalamualaikum,

The scenario is that one of my family members took out a savings account in my name to use for themselves and I wasn’t aware of it. There is a good possibility that the account earns interest.

I only came to know about this recently. However, I am not directly involved and i do not receive the interest.

Would this still make me sinful???
Can anyone help inshallah???

It wasn't done with your knowledge or permission, so it's not your fault. The sin is on the family member for using your name in this fashion - you can always contact the bank and stop interest being paid on the account.

Akhi Allah is the judge of sins and good deeds, never say with full knowledge that this person is commiting a sin because only Allah knows every angle of every situation. As for the Interest, you should be able to call and cancel the interest or you can always give the Interest they earn away, i remember i had an account for school and it earned interest and i could not remove it, so i just gave every penny i earned away so atleast i did what i could do to avoid the interest. And Allah knows best.
