Default A plea for help in understanding an ayah

In chapter 2 verse 286 we read that Allah (Swt) does not burden the soul of a person more than he or she is able to bear. Later in the ayah, there is a dua saying, oh Lord, do not place on us a burden more than we can bear.

Is this dua redundant? Allah (Swt) has already stated that He will not place a burden more than we can bear, so why make the dua for it?

Please post your comments so that InshaAllah, I will have this heavy feeling off my chest.

    Jazak Allah in advance.

    There is no redundancy

Allah states he has eased the burden of this ummah then goes on to mention how his Servants plead to him about how previous nations had heavy burdens on them.

It's like: "I've granted them mercy, they prayed so much that they would be granted mercy unlike other nations

He states the outcome of an event, then states the event
Al-Layth said: "If I saw a person of desires (i.e. innovations) walking upon the water I would not accept from him." So Imam as-Shafii then said: "He (al-Layth) has fallen short. If I saw him walking in the air I would not accept from him."
