That Iran. I have no clue what the Shia say on this issue.

But for Sunnis, I cannot see any way in which that would be allowed.

pls don't label me as unislamic when i say this, but

i think that there is nothing wrong with trasnsexuals. i think it would be nasty for someone to want to be a girl if they are a guy, BUT i am not in their shoes and do not know how it feels. i once met a girl who used to be a guy and (s)he was a very nice person. i asked them why they wanted to become a girl. they said they felt like a girl in a guys body. she started tearing up saying it was so hard for her as a guy and all. then i started to have sympathy and have supported transsexuals ever since.

but i do not think islam supports it or not sunni at least. islam is really much into keeping the body pure and clean. that is why we can not even get permadent tatoos! the qu'ran also stresses the roles of men and women and no where in the sunnah is transsexuality spoken about.

so at a personal level i think it is perfectly ok. but i do not think that agrees with islam.
evrything GOOD i say comes from Allah(swt)
evrything BAD i say comes from the shaiytan or from myself
Allah please forgive me for anything wrong I say Ameen

Al-Layth said: "If I saw a person of desires (i.e. innovations) walking upon the water I would not accept from him." So Imam as-Shafii then said: "He (al-Layth) has fallen short. If I saw him walking in the air I would not accept from him."

i skimmed through to find something on transsexuals, but couldnt find anything.

what happens if a person is a transsexual but is not gay? i dont think non-gay transsexuals exist, but a possibility exists. but then again, if you change into a woman and you marry a woman, you would be considered gay by everyone. if you changed into a woman and married a man you are gay. so i guess it doesnt matter.

in Iran, homosexuality is a crime that warrants the death penalty.

however, shia scholars have allowed sex-change operations, saying that it's halal - so as a result, gays are having sex-change operations to avoid acts of homosexuality.....it's a loop-hole in Iran's legal system at the moment.

i saw the news report on this before, apparently on a yearly-basis, Iran has 7 times more sex-change operations than all of Europe.

    salaam.
i seen a programme today on bbc about this. They were following some of these people at first i thought they had some defects and wanted to be on one side or the other.
But towards the end it seemed like they were gay men who liked dressing as women and to get past the legal system were changing.
What was extremely shocking was at the end of the programming they met the people a year later to see how they were getting on, on of the men(women) was dating a lad who actually knew he was she. The other was disowned by family a was living in flat in city doing"BUISNESS" it turned out to be prostitution for money made legal by another loop hole in shia Iran law famously known as MUTAH. so they get "married" for an hour or so, do the deed and it's all legal. Some good examples in this docu of shia'sms hypocrisy. Claming on cover to be islam while it is everything but.
Basically just summed up my view that Shias are the greatest threat to islam.
