Br Salahuldin for the informative reply.

However i have come across personally that pro Barelwis do look down upon those who dont celebrate Prophet Birthday, this innovation is rejected...

Then i do come across pro-Salafis that scream and say Bid'ah and close their ears to what you have to say, this extremism is rejected too.

So seek the middle path, Insha-Allah.

celebrating the birthday of the messenger (saw) by going on march's on the streets and shouting slogans, waving flags is bida.

unless someone can provide me some evidence to say this activty was carried out by the messenger (saw) or the sahabas.

i havent any evidence as such but my husband who is studying to become an alim told me there is no evidence of this day being celebrated and if its not a sunnat then and so no basis for celebrating it, the same as any birthday i guess.

Round my area, the brailvi's are going marching on sunday to celebrate the prophet(pbuh) birthday.

I'm left scratching my head as to what the marching achieves. Last time i checked it just left loads of traffic and extremely annoyed non-muslims.

this brother really breaks my heart, our own muslim brothers are shouting slogans and waving flags celebrating the Messenger(saw) birthday, yet there is no evidence to say this activity is allowed.

we muslims need to be worried about other issues, rather than celebrating birthdays. our brothers and sisters are being killed left right centre by the kafir, we should be helping them through an islamic state.

i pray allah (swt) guides this ummah, inshallah.

The Ibn Taymiyyah [ra] quote is dramatically misquoted. Please see:

    Assalamu 'alaikum

Bring all the indirect proofs you want. But answer this please:

    1. Did the sahabah ever celebrate 'mawlid?' I'm sure many of them lived to see the Prophet's birthday (sallaAllahu 'alayhi wasallam) many, many times. During and after his death.

    2. Did the tabi'een?

    3. Third generation?

    4. How, how, how is this different from the innovation of the christians: christmas?
A). They have invented a religious ceremony which ends up being a party and has nothing to do with religion.
B). They chose a date which is NOT proven to be Prophet 'Eesa's ('alayhissalam) birthday.
C). They forget Prophet 'Eesa ('alayhissalam) throughout the rest of the year. Even though they believe he is a god or the son of Allah.

I've never seen a person who quoted this hadith:

-Abu Qatada al-Ansari narrates in Sahih Muslim, Kitab as-siyam, that the Prophet was asked about the fast of Monday, and he answered: "That is the day that I was born and that is the day I received the prophecy."

fast on that day, except I always seen them celebrate mawlid :/
