One of my first Hifz teachers, he is a Maulana, but he wasn't a Hafiz at the time that he taught us. He started doing Hifz past the age of 60. He worked really hard, and finished in less than 2 years.
sub-han-allah
some beautifull stories to encourage bros/sis to take up this noble task.
Salaam,
Subhanallah! Some very inspirational stories! JazakAllah

If a person wants to measure his nearness to Allah, he should apply the following formula given by Shaykh Gangohi:
“A person’s nearness to Allah is proportional to his distance from his own ego and self [nafs].”
Jazaku Allah! for these words of encouragement. I am a new Muslim and older than dirt (57) and have started to memorize. These are encouraging posts!
Assalumualikum,
Im 27 and just started my hifz

Asalamualikum.....
I am 28 years old and for the past three years I have been learning the Quran and taking it seriously. I work full-time and the only time I have is weekends and after work. For me personally its about how much you want to learn, as long as your keen and keep motivated it will be easy for you. On some days it is hard for me, but like I say, its all about intention.
I never finished Quran and my reading was poor, although I use to listen to Quran discs and now everytime I learn something I have a hafiz listen to me, to take out my mistakes, so far with Allahs (swt) blessing its going well.
But what I would strongly encourage is that everyone who wants to acheive something in their life, they can. Even if it means learning 3/4 lines a day, eventually it will increase and what I find helps, is not to feel pressured, but to take each day and set small tasks and gradually increase.
May Allah (swt) bless all of us in knowledge and make us amongst his blessed ones... (Ameen).

There's an elderly man @ my brother's mosque who was roughly 70 years of age. Very old, fragile, white beard. He was doing hifz at the same time as my little brother who is 15!. He inspires me till Today.
