Will the people of Paradise speak Arabic?
Is the original language--the one that Adam [as] first spoke--Arabic?
I've read a fatwa on Islam QA that says that the hadeeth is not authentic, but I just wanted other opinions as well. Jazakh-Allah Khair.

I was taught that Adam (alayhissalaam) spoke every human language. However, the very first sentence that He ever spoke (which He spoke immediately after being created) was 'al-Hamdulillah,' which is an Arabic sentence. So Arabic was the first language ever spoken, but it was not the exclusive language of Adam (alayhissalaam).
Rather Arabic belongs to a class of "revealed languages" that were revealed to Prophet Adam by Allah. Hebrew is also a revealed language, and Syrianiyyah may be as well.

If a person wants to measure his nearness to Allah, he should apply the following formula given by Shaykh Gangohi:
“A person’s nearness to Allah is proportional to his distance from his own ego and self [nafs].”

So are we agreed that the first word spoken by Adam [as] was in Arabic, i.e. Al-Hamdu Lillah?
