There is no limit to what a man can achieve, as longs as it does not matter who takes the credit for it!
I think brother
The english translation would be
Then what for(why) are you placing for (before) them food and drink.
This is a nominal sentence with predicate placed before the subject.( Jumla ismiya with khabar muqadam) .The subject or mubtada is Atuam wa sharab and predicate which has been placed in front (khabar muqadam) is Tada u laha li ayi shai.
tada'u..... means you are placing... It's a present tense verb. Anta (you) would be the faail (subject) for this verb. i.e. Ebrahim A.S. referring to his father.
ta,aama wa sharaaba.... means food and drink.... It's the mafool (object).
I don't think food and drink is the mubtada.
Yes, brother Ahsan irfan, you have explained it clearly. It seems correct to me, but I could be wrong too.
This isn't the right way to learn nahw / tarkib. One should attempt it on his own and have his teacher look at it and correct him in case he made any mistakes, similarly before posting on the forums, it would be advised to at least post your tarkib before asking others to attempt it. : )
Thats a bit harsh sunnilink......
anyway i have done the first 2 stories tarkeeb with my teacher, and then we took a break to do more laws of Nahwa.
So in the interest of continuity in the meantime i am going ahead with the translation of the next story which is Nasiha't Ebrahim. Thus my posting the sentence with which i am having difficulty
My problem is with the first part of the sentecnce and not At Ta'aam wa Sharaab
lets do this
وَلأَيِّ = And for what
شَيْءٍ = Reason
تَضَع = To Put
لَهَا = For the
الطَّعَامَ وَالشرَابَ = Food and Drink
There is no limit to what a man can achieve, as longs as it does not matter who takes the credit for it!
now you gonna have to tell me why i cant find the following words in the dictionary
وَلأَيِّ
شَيْءٍ
تَضَع
There is no limit to what a man can achieve, as longs as it does not matter who takes the credit for it!
you wouldn't find li ayyai shayin... beacause li... is Harful Jarr., which is joined to Ayyi. And that is why it is Ayyi and not Ayyu. You might however find Ayyu in the dictionary. I might be wrong too, so please correct me.
