Peer Mehr Ali Shah (Ra)?

Asalaamu Alaykum,

Who was Peer Mehr Ali Shah (Ra)?

Was he a brelvi/deobandi shaykh?

Brother Julaybib would you know anything about him? I think you mentioned something about him in one of the past threads. Allahu Alam.

I know that he was the destroyer of Qadiyaniat and that he challenged Mirza Qadiyani...but i don't know much else about him. It would be great if someone could tell me more about him inshallah.

He was a great Sufi ,he was Brelvi in the sense he practicised all the customs that Brelvis do, such as , Khatams, had a great love of devotional music etc.

Are you sure about that? Please provide your source, since many ulama said otherwise.

Hazrat Peer Mehr Ali Shah (rah) was khalifah of Hazrat Haji Imdaadullah Muhajir-e-Makki (rah).

according to the Golra Sharif website he was a khilaafah of Hazrat Shamsuddin Sialvi (RA) in Chistiyah silsila.

Maybe he received honorary Ijaaza from Haji Imdadullah Makki (RA).

Not sure of type of khilafat but I know his name is mentioned in the list of Khulafa in the book 'Hazrat Haji Imdaadullah Muhajir-e-Makki aur unkay Khulafa'.

I have the book, inshallah i'll check it out later on or some day.

Well in anycase he was highly respected amongst both Brelvis/and Deobandis.

Okay my mistake I will adjust the above post....One thing I know is the Urs are celebrated at Golra sharif ,Milaad is celebrated at Golra. according to the biography posted on the site he had a great love for sama.etc.

And certainly the present day Sajda Nasheens (Descendants ) are very Brelvi like, whether Peer Mehr Ali Shah was Allah knows best, he did spend time studying in Deoband and saharanpur.

Peer Naseerudin Nasir Shah sahib, has his following mostly among Brelvis. And having listened to his lectures I would say certainly has more Brelvi leanings.
