Salams to all. Anyone heard of a name Aariz (boy name) ? I wanted to know the meaning of this name.
Sorry! No one to help?
The word is of Arabic origin and has many meanings of divergent semantic range. It is also used in Persian in various meanings, some of which are shared with Arabic, but not others. I have not come across it as a first name in either Arabic or Persian, but I believe it is used as such by speakers of Urdu. I am assuming that the name is written عارض in Urdu. If this is the case, it means ‘gift’. This is the only appropriate meaning I can think of out of the several meanings of the word in Arabic and Persian.

Thanks. I wanted to know if it is an Arabic name. I checked it in dictionaries, muslim name books, etc, but found nothing. But my friend said she got it from a website , the meaning is respectable. (I don't exactly know which site)
But i googled it and it have the meaning respectable in most sites.
But I don't know if this meaning is correct.

I have no idea where the meaning "respectable" came from, but the name does have a few acceptable meanings, such as "a rain bearing cloud" - as used in the Qur'an- as well as "mountain".
It would however be advisable to use a name normally used by the Muslims when naming their children, especially those used by our Pious Salaf.
Sahabah رضي الله عنهم would cling fast to the Sunnah, on account of it being Sunnah, while we discard the Sunnah, on account of it being (just) Sunnah!

'Respectable' is not one of the meanings of عارض in either Arabic or Persian.
There are several studies devoted to onomastics (علم الأسماء) in Arabic. The most comprehensive study of Arabic names and their geographic spread with statistics that I know of is Sultan Qaboos Encyclopaedia of Arab Names:
1. Muʻjam asmāʾ al-ʻArab (= Dictionary of Arab names) in the series: Mawsūʻat al-Sulṭān Qābūs li-Asmāʾ al-ʻArab (= Sultan Qaboos Encyclopaedia of Arab names), 2 vol. Masqaṭ: Jāmiʻat al-Sulṭān Qābūs, 1991.

and in the same series:
2. Treasury of Arab Names in 4 volumes which has over 4 million entries.

In most cases, the Dictionary (no. 1 above) should be enough to cover most questions you may have on Arabic names.
