As salam alikum to whoever is reading this,
I am new to this forum and this is my very first post/thread here. I am not a new Muslims myself but I do know someone and this is what the thread is about.
The thing is that I give answers relating to Islam on a site and although I myself am not too knowledgeable I find answers by scholars from other sites and use that as references.
Now what I need help is regarding this other person on the same category. She converted to Islam about a year ago and she is about to turn 16. She is an American btw but the problem is that since she is so new to Islam she does have many misconceptions about it which are reflected in her answers and people are getting confused. I have chatted with her and tried to discuss it but she does not seem to listen and want to understand.
To give an example is that she has, more than once, said that Sunnis and Shias are all 'Haram'. That is to say that following a 'sect' is not allowed and hence it is Haram. Another issue was her saying that dating is allowed in Islam, just not the Western type dating meaning eating out, going for walk or the movies is acceptable. Now I have tried to reason but she isn't willing to be open to discussion from me at least.
People have begin to ask me if what she said is true and they are getting confused. Although it says in her profile that she is a convert I do partly blame the questioners to ask someone who does not seem to have enough knowledge.
So any advices or suggestions or anyone willing to volunteer to do something?
