either right or wrong, it should be avoided because of the posture (I assume sitting down with making "O" with thumb and middle finger) is a well-known buddhist sitting posture. just the same thing if somebody tie themselves to the cross-like structure and start doing dhikr.

He sits with his back upright with topi on his head. His eyes are closed. He sits cross legged. His wrists rests on his respective knee cap. His left palms are slightly closed and is facing up. His right wrist has dhikr beads and he counts using it.

In this case, I would not assume anything bad about the brother.
Sitting cross legged is a common position, and not particular to any religion. The books of fiqh mention that this position is acceptable in Salat, so it is clearly NOT sinful.
To have the palms face up is a Muslim practice (in du'a).
The use of dhikr beads drives away any inclination (in my mind at least) to liken his behavior to another religion. Plus he's wearing a topi.
I would leave him be.
salam,
pretty much everybody sits in a cross-legged position after salah. so what's the problem???

When people start labeling something as a bid'ah, ask them for their evidence. Ask them how they know that the Companions DID NOT sit like that.
We live in a time when people make wild assertions based on nothing other than presumption and prejudice. I wish people would base judgments on Ilm, instead of emotions and gut reactions.

So we aren't supposed to sit upright? How are we supposed to sit then?
