Can anyone tell me if this Hadeeth 26 is authentic?

What do the scholars have to say about it?
Watch your eye, should it ever reveal to you the faults of others, say to it: "O my eye, other people have eyes too." [Ahmad al Zarruq]

There is nothing wrong with it. It's a hyperbole.
Al-Layth said: "If I saw a person of desires (i.e. innovations) walking upon the water I would not accept from him." So Imam as-Shafii then said: "He (al-Layth) has fallen short. If I saw him walking in the air I would not accept from him."

Unfortunately, I haven't got the resources to check the authenticity of the hadith as you've requested.

However, as a hyperbole (an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”) there is nothing wrong with it. It doesn't mean that women should lick the puss from their husbands' wounds.

In other ahadith there is mention of women doing sajdah for their husbands, which is far greater than licking pus. These only serve to signify the respect that should be there.

    Yes, it is authentic

According to Hafiz Haithami: It is related by Bazzar, all the narrators are to be found in
the sahih narrations except one narrator.

Another source has it that it is also related by Hakim though I have not checked it.

Could someone check what Imam Mundhiri has to say about this hadith as it also in Targhib wa Tarhib?

    salamu `alaykum

I believe he says that the chain is "good" (jayyid).

Also, their is a supportive narration for it also.

I was looking at this site yesterday but didn't notice this article.

The comment of Shaikh Arnauut in his edition of Musnad Imam Ahmad about the authenticity of the part about pus is interesting and raises doubts about it. Perhaps those more knowledgeable about hadith should comment rather than me.

Gf Haddad misunderstood the statement of Sh. Shuaib.

Sh. Shuaib classified the hadith as sahih, except the portion on licking the pus. He didn't mention the clssification of this portion, so GF understood it to be weak,or deliberately gave this impression.

As for the portion about licking the pus, Sh. Shuaib himself classified a hadith wherein it is mentioned as hasan in his Ta'liq on Sahih Ibn Hibban 9/472 and mentioned this in those very pages of Musnad Ahmed that GF quoted from.

In addition to the Hasan hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri in Sahih ibn Hibban, there are a number of other ahadith mentioning the same portion.
    From amongst them are
    - Hadith of Anas which is classified as strong by Hafidh al-Mudhiri, ibn Hajr al-Haitami etc
    - Hadith of Abu Hurairah
    - Hadith of Mu'adh
    - Hadith of Abu Umamah

Thus, the hadith is at the very least hasan, if not sahih due to the combined strength of the Hadith of Abu Sa'id and the one of Anas .

    And Allah Ta'ala knows best
Sahabah رضي الله عنهم would cling fast to the Sunnah, on account of it being Sunnah, while we discard the Sunnah, on account of it being (just) Sunnah!
