    assalamu 'alaykum,

It's the Barelwi version of Tablighi Jamat. They wear their signature green turbans. The founder I think copied the TJ format but made slight modifications such as referring to jamats as madni kaflay and reducing the 40 day chilla to 30 days. They also have a "tasawwuf" element to their organization such as being required to give baya' to their main pir. Furthermore, they have their own version of Fadhail-e-Amal as well, it's referred to as Faizan-e-Sunnat. Dawat-e-Islami was founded in 1980 by an 'atr (perfurme) seller named Ilyas Qadri. The organization has a large following in Pakistan. They are known for providing loads of food (and halwa) to their devotees and women also attend their events.

Barelwis usually refer to themselves as "ahle sunnat", but yes, it's probably the same group.

Ok. I guess there's nothing intrinsically wrong in saying that. I think pretty much every group claims to be the standard-bearer of Sunna.

Hang on, is this the same Dawat-e-Islami were Dr Israr Ahmed is the head of? or speaker of?

Dont the likes of Abdur-Raheem Green, Hussain Yee, Dr Zakir Naik follow them?

    Isn't this Dawat-e-Islami an offshoot of Jamaat-e-Islami?

And the likes of Abdur Raheem Green etc, aren't they Ahlal Hadith followers? shouldn't they be condeming Barelwis? because they normally do.

Maybe i got mixed up with the wrong group, some one please explain.

It is reported from Abu Umamah from the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alayhi WaSallam) that he said:

    اتَّقُوا فِرَاسَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَنْظُرُ بِنُورِ اللَّهِ

" Fear the Insight of the Believer, for verily he sees with the Light of God"
