Smile Hashim Amla talks about life, cricket, and his beard!

Hashim Amla is the first South African cricketer of Indian-descent and MashaAllah he is a practising, bearded Muslim. MashaAllah, over the last few years we have seen an increase in bearded cricketers e.g. Mohammed Yousuf, Mushtaq Ahmed, Saqlain Mushtaq, Hashim Amla among others. To me, this is also a form of "silent da'wah".

Yes indeed it is.. May Allah reward them for adhering to the sunnah.. and also bless TJ for fortifying them in their effots.. (with a slight exception of Amla ofcourse.. in which case May Allah shower and bless the Ulama who have immensly shouldered him and shadowed him throughout his life..) Ameen...

Oh yes! How could I ever forget Saeed Anwar! He was the one who originally started this revolution Alhamdulillah! May Allah bless him and shower him with His infinite mercy!

You are true, Inzamam and Shahid Afridi also fit the bill. Under Inzamam's captaincy, the team was the most religious Pakistani team I had ever seen Alhamdulillah.

In any case, I did say "among others"

"Sitting comfortably in a fold-up chair in the Players' Dining Room outside the Surrey dressing room after the first day of the game against Kent at The Oval, arms moving about as he simulates bowling actions and shots batsmen have attempted against him, Saqlain Mushtaq looks every bit the seasoned cricketer. Add on the flowing beard and Islamic skull cap and he resembles something of a sage. Listen to sport and religion blend together in his conversation and you're taken in by his boyish simplicity. Place it all in perspective of where he's been the last few years, and you have a man relishing another chance to play cricket."

Saqlain Mushtaq on life, cricket and more..

Masha Allah, Da'wah at its best ... Muslims just being ordinary Muslims. Actions speak louder than words.
