The earliest source, apparently, for this quote is al-Fihrist of the Mu`tazili Ibn al-Nadim (d. 438) and he attributes it to Ibn al-Mubarak. And, if I'm not wrong, so does Ibn `Abidin in Radd al-Muhtar. But as correctly mentioned earlier it is also in the Diwan al-Shafi`i.

The version attributed to Ibn Mubarak by Ibn Nadim etc differs from the version attributed to Imam ash-Shafi'i

Salaams!! Brother, Benoni was very nice but now they emphasise on urdu even more than azaadville. They also want to follow Azaadville 100%, even the fees. And because they are just starting out, they didn't exactly have space for me. My trip has been hard ever since I set out 8 months ago and to be honest, I got worn out bro. I'm back home now working up the courage and energy to set out again. Make dua please. I went past Springs as well to see the place before I came home. Springs is nice and they actually teach in Arabic after the first year or two. But their facilities are a bit poor. If I do come back I will most likely go to Camperdown. And IF I do make it back, I will be there for i'tikaaf during Ramadhan inshaAllah! Give my salaams to everyone. Take care
