    Assalamualaikum Brothers and Sisters in Islam

    Have anyone here heard about Dr. Zakir Naik?.. Is he a sunni?

    I have heard that there are lots of interesting speeches and debates by him. Anyone can spread light over his work?..

    He is a ghair muqallid. I think he also has animosities towards those who practice tasawwuf (which usually comes with being a ghair muqallid).

    He is very good at comparative religion debates, etc. However, when it comes to fiqhi issues/fatwa I would recommend a more knowledgable and experienced scholar.

    Someone who does not make Taqleed to one of the 4 Illustrious Maddhahib.

    It is reported from Abu Umamah from the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alayhi WaSallam) that he said:

    اتَّقُوا فِرَاسَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَنْظُرُ بِنُورِ اللَّهِ

    " Fear the Insight of the Believer, for verily he sees with the Light of God"

    Don't know much about this, but when a ghayr muqallid criticizes the sufi they condemn the extremes.
    Keep them in your daily du'as.
