As salaamu alaykum.
Does anyone know the names of any contemporary scholars from Egypt who can be considered "Traditional" in the sense that they not only believe in one of the accepted schools of Aqeedah, but that they also follow, when making a ruling, one of the four still valid fiqhi methodologies (i.e. the Usuls of the Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki, and Hanbali madhab) and publicly accept the validity of Tassawuf?
Bear in mind when answering that the scholar need not follow a single Usul when formulating a ruling all the time, because some Ulema are, indeed, qualified in more than one madhab. However, when establishing a SINGLE ruling, regarding a SINGLE issue, they should adhere to a SINGLE fiqhi methodology that is accept, rather than one which is an amalgam of Usul that has not been inherited by one who had the authority to formulate an Usul.
Given the above, who fits the bill?
Wa'salaam.
