    Assalamualikum sister.

No need to get fustrated sis. I never had islamic books for my boys till recently, since we don't get it where i live. But children at a very young age.. like you said 3-5 years cannot read on their own properly yet. So we have to be reading to them. You can 'islamize' any book you pick up and explain to your kids about Allah and the greatness of Allah. I would normallly read to them any book, then say in my own words how Allah made these things (animals, trees, beach, etc). It works very good for them.
I had also made my own little book for them, with pictures from the net., since I was not able to get any islamic book. The kids really loved the book.
However only recently I got some very nice islamic books from the Azhar Academy in London. You can check out their site
    www.azharacademy.com
You have all different sort of books about the prophets for kids. At the moment I read Quran Stories For Kids to my boys. They enjoy it so much....they look forward to it everynight before going to sleep. Sometimes I may be tired and forget but these boys never forget. They make sure either their dad or mum read to them.
Reading to kids is very necessary. They remember everything we read or explain to them at this very young age. I am glad you are eager in reading good books to your kids. I hope you get nice islamic books which will benefit your kids.

I think it would help if you let us know which country you reside in so that we can guide you to the appropriate bookstore.

Not every bookstore carries every Islamic book for kids.

Idara.com carries books for children. They also ship worldwide. The prices are in Indian Rupees, and if you convert them into your own currency, chances are it's going to be very cheap. It's even worth the purchase including air shipping.
    Allaah knows best.

    السلام عليكم,

But what's with all the pictures in these childrens' books? It's so hard to find "Islamic" books for children that don't have animated cartoons in them...

    Assalamu Alaikum,

I'm a pre-k teacher (3, 4, 5yolds) at an islamic school. The "islamic" books that I use to read to the kids are the "Quran stories for little hearts" sets. I got these here: http://store.talkislam.com/ I simplify the stories a little bit, since the vocabulary words are a beyond the kids' comprehension.

There is also a good curriculum that emphasizes islamic character education: http://www.ad-duha.org called "Mini Mu'min".

On www.iqra.org, under children's books, there are more nice books in here.

    Hopefully that helps, insha'allah.

I do appreciate your help..I know my kids are too small but we need to make some effort to introudce them to our religion Islam in such a way that when they grow old, they have some good understanding about its concepts.
