Holidays: Is it Ok to miss Salaah?
As salamu aleykum
I'm on holiday in Italy with my family at the moment so we've been spending a lot of time together. Is it ok to miss salaah during holiday? I have been making regular dua'a throughout the day and have thanked Allah countless times for giving us such a great opportunity to spend quality time together in such a beautiful place (Lake Garda). We go on holiday every year once or twice - this is by far the best yet, al-hamdullilah!!!!

i was drawn to this beautiful religion at the age of eleven, and proudly recited my shahadah at the age of thirteen. i'm now seventeen years old :-)

No, you may not miss salah when on holiday or traveling. If the place you have traveled to is farther than 77 kilometres and you have been there for less than 15 days (and you intend to leave before the 15 days are up), you may perform qasr salah (which is 2 rakats for the dhuhr, 'asr, and 'isha salat; fajr remains at 2 fardh rakats and maghrib remains at 3 fardh rakats). If you plan to be there for a longer period, you must perform the regular lengths of salah.
Remember, salah is not performed because Allah requires you to pray (your pray won't harm or help Allah in the least), but it is for your own sake, as the pleasure of Allah will be a means of your salvation on the day of judgment.

It is well over 77 km and we have come here for 7 days, I will now go upstairs to perform Dhuhr 2 rakaas
