Not to be the ultra cynic here but basically just repeat everything Americans have been doing until the 1960's. That is as short as I can put it.
Everything you listed described typical 1940's marriages to a perfect fit and I am not joking here. I guess there is a reason marriage lasted longer back then as opposed to now.

I do personally like Robert Byrne's idea "One reason people get divorced is that they run out of gift ideas". People so often base their marriage on VERY shallow pleasures, usually money or sex and we all know that will not last. Look at celebrities and how they are the living testament to these failures.
