Default Khulafaa of Hazrat Pir Fazal Ali Qureshi

    Dear members!

I require a list of the names of noble khulafaa of the great Naqshbandi shaikh Pir Fazal Ali Qureshi rahmatullah alaih.

If any brother/sister has this information from some authorized reference, kindly post the reply with the names of all his khulafaa. If the dates of their deaths or some other info is also available, that will be a nice addition.

    Thanks

An interesting quote from Pir Fazal 'Ali Qureshi (may Allah sanctify his secret):

"I am not a student nor a murid of the Deobandis although you are my witness that my aqa'id (beliefs) are the same as the Deobandis. The Ahle Deoband are on the truth. Consider me a Deobandi in this regard." (Deeni Dastarkhwan - Maqamat-e-Fazliyya, vol. 3, p. 314)

Maulana Ghulam Habib rahmatullah alayhi had khilafat from both from Hadhrat Abdul Malik Sidiqui rahmatullah alayhi and also from Hadhrat Fazal Ali Shah Qureshi rahmatullah alayhi. Both khilafats were granted on the same day, 29th Sha'baan 1352 AH.

Shaykh Abdul Malik Siddiqi rahmatullahi alays legacy includes his 166 khulafa. I have the list! He was a one of the elite khulafa and spent much of life side by side with his shaikh and they travelled extensively together.

When they went to Deoband, Hadhrat Fazal Ali Qureshi rahmatullah alayhi was asked by Shaikhul Islam Hadhrat Maulana Hussain Ahmed Madani rahmatullah alayhi to stay and lead zikr majalis in Deoband. This offer was accepted and Hadhrat Fazal Ali Qureshi rahmatullah alayhi stayed for 3days and perfomed dhikr majalis every morning and every evening in the masjid of Allamah Shabir Ahmed Usmani rahamtullah alayhi.

During their stay, Qari Muhammed Tayyib Qasimi sahib rahmatullah alayhi (prinicpal of darul uloom Deoband for 50years) stepped forward to lead the zohr salah wearind his topi. Hadhrat Fazal Ali Qureshi rahmatullah alayhi stopped him and said why dont you lead the salahs wearing an amamah? Qari sahib realised he was neglecting this important sunnah, so he immediately wore an amamah and then lead the salah.

Whilst there, Hadhrat Fazal Ali Qureshi rahmaullah alayhi did ziyarah and saw Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam doing musafaha with the ulema deoband and congratulating them for the great work of deen they had done.

When Hadhrat Abdul Malik Siddiqi rahmatullahi alay met Hadrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi rahmatullah alayhi, Hadhrat Thanwi said to him, "Dont forget me on the day of judgement."

Shaykh Khawaja Maulana Abdul Ghafur Abbasi Madani rahmatullahi alay was a very great alim of his time. Initially, he was very sceptical of tasawwuf. One day he went to discuss tasawwuf with one of the leading khulafa of Hadhrat Fazal Ali Shah Qureshi namely Hadhrat Maulana Syed Muhammed Qureshi Hashmi rahmatullahi alayhi. Unfortunately he wasnt convinced and decided to test the shaykhs authencity by inviting him for a meal. He knew that the Shaykh was very particular in what he ate and would only eat food that had been prepared by those in a state of wudhu. So Maulana Abdul Ghafur sahib told his womenfolk to make some rotis whilst in the state of wudhu and make others without and to make a very slight mark on those rotis which were made with wudhu (so, only Maulana Abdul Ghafur sahib would know which ones these were).

Hadhrat Maulana Syed Muhammed Qureshi Hashmi rahmatullahi alayhi arrived for the meal and the food was placed in front of the shaykh. When Hadhrat Maulana Syed Muhammed Qureshi Hashmi rahmatullahi alayhi began to eat, he removed the top most roti and placed it on the side and ate the second one. He then removed the third and fourth and ate the next. Maulana Abdul Ghafur sahib was shocked! He knew there was no way those marks could be seen by another. Hadhrat Maulana Syed Muhammed Qureshi Hashmi rahmatullahi alayhi said "Why are you so confused? Maulana sahib, everything has a noor and the food which is prepared by those in wudhu has a different noor to those which weren't."

He requested bayah immediately but was refused because he was a very great alim and was taken directly to Hadhrat Fazal Ali Qureshi rahmatullahi alay. Hadhrat Fazal Ali Shah Qureshi rahmatullah alayhi initiated him in to the Naqshbandi Mujaddidi order and also gave him khilafat.

He later moved to Madinah and had ziyarah of Rasullullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to establish the Naqshbandi Mujaddidi khanqa in the blessed city. When Shaikh Ali Murtaza rahmatullah alayhi used to visit Madinah, he used to stay with Maulana Abdul Ghafur rahmatullah alayhi.

His khulafa number over 100. One of his senior khulafa was Hadhrat Shaikh Muhammed Lutfullah Al Abassi rahmatullahi alay. He was the nephew of the shaikh and went to Madinah at the age of 15 to marry his shaikhs daughter, he loved the city so much he remained there until he passed away in 2005. His sons (only arabic speaking) are continuing the work in Madinah and Hadhrat has a number of khulafa in South Africa.

Arif Billah Hadhrat Shaykh Ali Murtaza rahmatullah alayhi (the Shaykh of Shaykh Asif Hussain Farooqui daamat barakatuhum). The shaykhs homeland was Gadai, Dera Ghazi Khan and he was born in the year 1907 AD.

He was an exceptional scholar. He mastered Tafseer, Ahadeeth, Fiqh, Mantaq and Philosophy with Hifz. He learnt Tajweed and Qaraa'at from Qari Abdul 'Aleem in Saharanpur. Among his teachers were Hadhrat Mawlana Khaleel Ahmad Sahib Saharanpuri, Mawlana Thaabit Ali Sahib, Mawlana Abd-ul-Lateef Sahib, Mawlana Waahid Bakhsh Sahib, and Mawlana Muhammad Siddeeq Sahib. Apart from this he also received lessons on Hadeeth from Hadhrat Mawlana Muhammad Yahya Sahib who was the father of his class-fellow Hadhrat Shaykh-ul-Hadeeth Maulana Zakariya Sahib nawwarAllahu Marqadahu.

During the last year of acquiring Zahiri knowledge, Hadhrat Shaykh felt a severe need for the acquisition of Batini knowledge. He attached himself to Qibla-e-Aaalam, Qutb-ul-Irshad, Hadhrat Mawlana Fazal Ali Shah Qurayshi rahmatullah alayhi.

Hadhrat Sahib's love for his Shaykh was very great indeed. Every other week he would travel by foot from Gadai towards Miskeenpur Shareef. On his journey he would cross the Sindh River and then would reach Miskeenpur to be in the presence of the Shaykh by noon on the following day. It was the Hukm of Hadhrat Shaykh that he must not get involved in any kind of chit chatter or discussion on his journey.

He had permission in all the Silsilahs from His Shaykh but the dominant silsilah was Naqshbandiah.

Poverty did not affect or shake the steadfastness of Hadhrat Shaykh. He always worked, sewing clothes and working in a library containing religious books. He continued to deliver lessons on Deen for no charge . The gatherings of Allah's dhikr and shukr went on. Gatherings of Muraqabah Dhikr would take place daily after morning Salaah for one hour and for twenty minutes after Maghrib Salaah which would end with Du'a. On Friday night Hadhrat would give a Bayan after the gathering of Muraqabah Dhikr.

Hadhrat Shaykh went for Hajj on fourteen occasions. The first of which took place in 1357 AH. On this occasion it happened that Hadhrat Shaykh had only seventy rupees. On this first Hajj, Hadhrat Shaykh was at the blessed shrine of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and conveying his farewell salaam. At that moment a voice came from the blessed shrine saying “'Awdan, 'Awdan”. This was an invitation, and good news, for Hadhrat Shaykh to come again. It happened just that way - Hadhrat Shaykh returned for Hajj the following year.

On another occasion Hadhrat Shaykh did not have enough to cover the expenses for staying in Madinah Munawwarah, and had been without food for a few days. With this Hadhrat Shaykh did Ziyaarah of Rasoolullah sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam who said to him “Whose guest are you?”. He replied “I am Your guest O Messenger of Allah”. Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam then placed something in his hand. When Hadhrat Shaykh awoke he opened his hand to find a Riyaal inside it.

During his last days Hadhrat Shaykh began to say such things which made it feel that he was close to separating from this world. A close friend had a dream, in which he saw that two of the minarets of the Haram in Makkah had fallen. Hadhrat Shaykh gave the explanation of the dream that soon will come the passing away of a Friend of Allah who would be irreplaceable. It happened that way. On Saturday the 25th of Shawwal 1408AH he parted from thousands of loving followers. At the time of his death, there was a smile on his face and the index finger of his right hand was pointing straight.

It was the wish of Hadhrat Shaykh that he be buried at the place where the people took off their shoes for prayer. His Kafan was the Ihraam materials of many years.

In his last sermon on the night of Friday 24th Shawwal Hadhrat Shaykh said “He who purified his Nafs is the successful one. An important reason for the sending of Prophets by Allah is for purification and for the rectification of Manners. For the purification of the Nafs, three things are done and one is left. The things that are done are the Dhikr of Allah, following of the Sunnah and to acquire the company of a Shaykh. And the thing that is to be left is Sin. The following of the Sunnah is Noor, without light it is impossible to walk in the path. Without the Sunnah, Tareeqat becomes deception.”

There are fifty-nine Khaleefahs of Hadhrat Shaykh nawwarAllahu Marqadahu, who are spreading the blessings of Hadhrat Sahib throughout the world.
