Default Questions regarding a bayan of Maulana Tariq Jamil

I read the following post somewhere over the web.

    Adnan..

I would like to share something with you that I heard from Mr. Tariq Jameel. He once said in his bayan that Malak-ul-Maut came to Hazrat Mohammad P.B.U.H and asked for his permission to take his life but Hazrat Mohammad P.B.U.H refused him and sent Malak-ul-Maut back to Allah to ask for a promise regarding his Ummah. Malak-ul-Maut went to Allah and came back to Mohammad P.B.U.H with a promise but Mohammad P.B.U.H didn’t get satisfied so sent Malak-ul-Maut back to Allah again. This happened 3 or 4 times. Then Mohammad allowed Malak-ul-Maut to take his life.

    My Questions:

    1. Who told this story to Mr. Tariq Jameel? Who was with Mohammad P.B.U.H there at that time?

I don’t need to ask more questions, the first one should be enough but still:

    2. Why did Malak-ul-Maut ask for Mohammad’s permission?
    3. Do you think Mohammad P.B.U.H could refuse an order of Allah 3 or 4 times?
    4. If Allah did a promise with Mohammad P.B.U.H about his Ummah then why Muslims are in such state for centuries?

I won’t say much even if I have a lot to say but if you have answers for the above questions then please do let me know.

    Thanks

    !mran
Can people answer these questions ?

Note: I myself is a great admirer of Maulana.

There are 2 things to consider in his questions:

    1. The validity of the statement (sahih etc)
    2. The possibility of such and event (jaiz).

    1. Is the validity of the incident, to which I reply:

Unfortunately i don't have a reference for the hadith (even though that's probably what you're after) but i do know that Shayk Husain Abdul Sattar quotes this event over and over again (although i haven't heard him say that it happened multiple times - but of course i haven't heard him say it didn't happen multiple times either).

And you can listen to them at www.sacredlearning.com

(more specifically the on on the seerah series)

    2. Is the possibility of such an event, to which i reply:

Firstly if it is established even by weak hadith (from the 1st assertion), by definition of a weak hadith the event is absolutely physically possible unless the questioner is saying something like that is impossible for ALLAH wana'udhu biLLAH

Also, to quote Imam al-haddad :

    "Qad kaffani 'ilmu Rabbi"

"The knowledge of my Lord is sufficient for me."

So the question begs the knowledge of my Lord cannot be known to me entirely because HIS knowledge is from pre-eternity and i exist within time, so how can i be satisfied with this when i can never grasp it? Well although it is from pre-eternity one becomes knowing of part of ALLAH' 's knowledge when the event happens. Such that when "X" happens, one then finds out (knows) that this event was written to happen and known to ALLAH from pre-eternity. It is only now, that we have been given knowledge of this decision of ALLAH . And if something doesn't hapen then it doesn't happen due to ALLAH 's knowledge, power, control and everything else of HIS

So in his example it is not refusal of ALLAH 's decision, because it was never ALLAH 's decision (in finality) to take HabibuLLAH :SAW: at the first juncture in the first place.

Lastly, where is the iman of an individual if he doesn''t believe that RasuluLLAH :SAW: is imam al ambiya - literally the leader of all the prophets? Thus look at the example of another prophet who was not the "LEADER OF ALL PROPHETS" but a great prophet all the same - Musa :

Sahih Muslim, Book 030, Number 5852:

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) having said that the Angel of Death came to Moses and said: Respond (to the call) of Allah (i. e. be prepared for death). Moses (peace be upon him) gave a blow at the eye of the Angel of Death and knocked it out. The Angel went back to Allah (the Exalted) and said: You sent me to your servant who does not like to die and he knocked out my eye. Allah restored his eye to its proper place (and revived his eyesight) and said: Go to My servant and say: Do you want life? And in case you want life, keep your hand on the body of the ox and you would live such number of years as the (number of) hair your hand covers. He (Moses) said: What, then? He said: Then you would die, whereupon he (Moses) said: Then why not now? (He then prayed): Allah, cause me to die close to the sacred land. Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Had I been near that place I would have shown his grave by the side of the path at the red mound. This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Ma'mar.

This is clearly not a negotiation between the Supreme Creator of every atom and incident, but narrated as ta'lim for us - so we can sit in the company of scholars to understand the message and significance of this sahih Hadith one day inshALLAH.

    Wasalam
