    Default Four kind of Taqlid

    al-Salamu alaykum wa rahmatu-Llah.
The following is from Shaykh Abu Qanit al-Hasani :

    [Talfiq is of four types]:

    a) Mixing madhabs for separate acts that have no
direct link or dependency between them. For example,
fasting sawm like a Hanafi and praying salah like a Maliki.
    b) Mixing madhabs for separate acts that are dependent
on one another. For example, doing wudu' like a Hanafi
(not wiping the entire head hair) and then praying like
    a Maliki.
    c) Mixing madhabs within the same act but in a way that the
final act is acceptable in at least one school. For example,
crossing hands in the prayer like a Hanafi but praying like
a Maliki otherwise (as leaving the hands dangling to the
side is just a non-essential fadilah)).
    d) Mixing madhabs within the same act but in a way that the
final act is *not* acceptable in any school. For example,
following the Maliki ruling of Zakat not being wajib on
personal gold/silver jewelry but calculating one's Zakat owed like
a Hanafi who allows one to take into account advance Zakat money given
last year. Thus, this person will gain from not paying Zakat
on his personal gold/silver jewelry and also gain from
his advance Zakat credits from last year (the latter of which is
not allowed in the Maliki school).

The majority of the scholars (jumhur) are of the view that (a) is
permissible. There is difference of opinion about whether (b) and
    (c) above is permissible. And there is almost total agreement that
    (d) is not permissible.

We are narrating the opinion that (a), (b), and (c) are permissible
    while (d) is not permissible.
When Shaykh said that there's *ALMOST* total agreement about the impermissibility of the fourth kind of taqlid, this would means that there's *IJMA* on this subject, or that there are *SOME* scholars who allow it?

    Jazaka-Llahu khayran, wa's-Salamu alaykum.

Some -like ibn Abd al-Bar, if I am not mistaken- have narrated Ijma on that case being impermissible, however some latter scholars hold the view of permissibility.

If your practise was according to quran and hadiths, dont see any reason why your deeds will not be accepted cause u followed anohter madhab, or switched the madhab!

    Jazaka-Llahu khyran, dear brothers.
A second and final question on this matter is: I know I can follow another madhhab only in case of need (I don't know if this is the only possible option, but as far as I know it is the safest). But, should I follow only mashhur opinions form another madhhab or, in case of need, I'm allowed to follow non-mashhur opinions also?

    Shukran,
    wa's-Salamu alaykum.

As a Hanafi, I would Love to learn how to pray Salaah according to other madhabs and then do so in my nawafil salaah.

I can see the hurdles, but so long as the complete action is done with that schools ruling, would there be any issues?

I though Wudhu and salaah were two seperate worships?

if not, i would not mind doing wudhu according to the school i intended to follow for that salaah.

any reliable, authentic simple fiqh books for laymen for the maliki, shafi'i and hanbali schools, online, please?

any good, reliable authentic websites run by authentic people on the 3 mentioned schools, which has various info on the schools from salaah, saum, to other aspects.

    Enigma,

Like mentioned above, this is something that scholars have disagreed on. But this is the position that i follow.

For Shafi'i Q&A you can go to Sunnipath.
Nawawis Al-Maqasid is a good and simple book.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions when it comes to the Shafi' madhab.

I was talking more about step by step info on things like the compulsory, sunnah etc acts of wudhu, salaah etc. things that break these actions etc.

also, want to see the physical step by step actions and what each madhab prays in their salaah.

so,any reliable, basic easy to read fiqh books on the maliki, shafi'i and hanbali madhab, online?

The issue is that the Qur'an orders us to "ask the people of knowledge" when we don't know something. And if a person follows type (d), then he is actually NOT following any of the madhhabs.
